This is a once in life time experience. As a keen birder I was amazed by the knowledge and experience shown by the tour guide in finding and identifying new bird species to our group.
Our guide Luke Paterson was only too happy to go the extra yard to ensure the experience was a memorable one. I think we came back with about 40 new species that were photographed and recorded.
The highlights of our private tour were the 2 river cruises that gave a great insight into Kakadu and its diverse environment and wildlife.
During our tour Luke Paterson was extremely professional giving equal time to the each and every photographer on tour.
The purpose built vehicle was excellent for our needs and Luke gave constant information as we traveled along. A real learning experience from a man who is passionate in what he is doing. And for this I would recommend this tour for the young and old.

The Darwin day tour was brilliant. Luke and Harn were both exceptionally knowledgeable guides and personable hosts, designing a flexible itinerary and accommodating our dietary needs. We have just returned from the Ultimate Top End Birding Tour (Darwin to Kununarra) and had a fantastic time. Luke is an outstanding guide and a wonderful human. He is super knowledgeable, an impressive spotter (sound and sight), patient, friendly and considerate at all times and as a bonus made us laugh a lot. We couldn't have asked for a better guide than Luke. We saw so many beautiful new birds and visited some amazing locations and Luke made sure that we had a great time doing so. The quality of the food provided while on location (at lunch in particular) was excellent and exceeded our expectations. We couldn't recommend NT Bird Specialists more as a tour provider.

We have joined Luke in his guided tours during the Bird Week in Kakadu and it has been the highlight of our vacation in the Top End. Luke is super competent in birds and local wildlife, very kind and patient (he won’t leave a spot until everyone have spotted each bird) and a passionate guide who will share with you his all his knowledge. I finished the Finch Frenzy tour with NT Bird Specialists a couple of days ago and it was a brilliant experience. It was lead by Luke Paterson who is not just a great birding guide but also a great tour leader.

In seven days we managed to see over 160 bird species including the hard to find endemics, also many macropods and reptiles.

Luke made sure that each person on the tour got to see all the birds, he also made sure everyone’s wish list bird was found…..amazing.

Luke knows all the bird calls, has great eyesight, detailed knowledge of where to find each species and also the species that will be found at each location. He uses a spotting scope to allow everyone to see the birds close up.

The tour is well organised for comfortable travel, accomodation and food. It covers a lot of interesting country from Darwin to Kakadu, Pine Creek and Timber Creek supporting local businesses all around.

It’s a fantastic company to tour with and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see birdlife across NT and experience the wonderful country.

I had an excellent 7days birding trip with NT specialists. Excellent guide, knowledgeable of his region and all living creatures living in it. Attentive to his customers making all this adventure easy and relaxed. Very good organization, confortable transport & accomodations, great home made breakfasts and lunches taken in terrific picnic places along the way.
