My husband last Thursday had ordered a taxi to take him to the Airport. When he booked he was not given a quote on how much it would cost. Into the journey the taxi driver told him it would be $130 all up. The driver said that it was out of their area, why was he told that when he booked the taxi? He had got a taxi from the airport 5 days earlier with a cost of $85. He said that NO he wasn’t given a quote and that he wasn’t happy and he thought it was excessive but he would have to wear it as he needed to get to the airport. When they got to the airport the driver said it would be $136! Needless to say he won’t be booking with them again and he goes up there regularly.

What’s your problem 5.40am 9/2/25 I’m riding to work you pull over and follow me with your high beam on really I’m on a bike in an areas that kangaroos as know to be Horizon golf course and it sun rise. I was not tail gating you. Was it my driving/fog lights so you assumed I had high beams on you no I did not. You should have notice as I passed I put on my high beams. They are factory driving light to help light up the side of the road and make the bike more visible. Expected better from someone that ment to be a professional driver. No need for it

I've been in numerous Diggers Taxis in Nelson Bay and always had a great experience. All the taxi drivers I have met have been friendly and polite and know the area really well. They go over and above helping passengers where they need extra help with mobility or getting their shopping into the taxi etc. The locals I have talked to about taxi services in Nelson Bay have told me how much better the taxis have been in Port Stephens since Diggers took over the service in the area. They have convenient taxi ranks in Salmander Bay, Soldiers Point, Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay where you can either book or hail a taxi, or they can come and pick you up directly from your home, restaurant, hotel or club. They also have an app which is free to download and easy to use and makes booking taxis really easy. Taxis often come quicker than you might expect and you can even book them to come at a certain time. During times of higher demand the wait can sometimes be longer which is understandable but it's still better than any other alternatives. A lot of tourists to the area have also told me Diggers Taxis are much better than Uber in Nelson Bay because Uber are hardly ever available and they operate with a surge pricing model which makes them much more expensive than taxis in the high demand times when everyone wants transport. Taxis are very affordable for short trips around the Nelson Bay area and if you're with a group of friends it becomes even more economical. I highly recommend Diggers Taxis for anyone living or travelling in the Nelson Bay / Port Stephens area.

After booking and receiving a taxi at 10:50pm, i had gone to have a drink at the local pub.
I was walking home at 2:10pm and a taxi stopped infront of me. I jog towards it and who is it? It is Richard, the man, the myth, the LEGEND.
This man remembered dropping me off at the pub and found me walking home stranded, he stopped, picked me up, and took me home.
Absolute legend, ive booked well over 100 taxis in my time and i have never had such incredible service.
The walk home from a night out can be so miserable and the fact that Richard noticed me again and picked me up.. this has made my night 10 fold.
I work in customer service and there is nothing i can do that would amount to the feeling i got when he pulled over infront of me as i was engaging in a 30 minute despair that would be my walk home.

One of the only taxi services that struggle to actually provide the service of a Taxi.
This is my third occurrence of booking a taxi 6hrs in advance, this time at 6pm only to receive a text msg 2min before 6pm that they are unable to allocate a driver and may be late.
How can you not allocate a driver 6hrs in advance, that is a broken operating procedure, you guys are ridiculous some times.
Thank god Uber is finally working in the bay and are accountable for being on time and arriving when ordered.
Work it out guys or communicate a bit better, 2min before a pick up is not appropriate.
Sick of using the excuse of being late because the taxi never turned up.

Next experience, Thu 09 Dec 11:54pm, ring for taxi, get told it will be next available taxi, politely ask if that's 5 or 10 or 30min, she replies I just told you it will be next available taxi, yep got it but do I have to be at the pick up point in 5 or 10 or 30 min, replies just told you next available taxi and hangs up. Found alternative way home although did get msg that taxi was 5min away shortly afterwards. She obviously loves her job and should get nominated for customer service award for the year even though I think the phone desk is located in Coffs harbour.

I would not recommend this service. After booking a taxi for my daughter and myself we waited 30 minutes. I called to check how much longer it was going to be and was told 1hr 30mins. I commented that its a long time to wait and they need more staff. I was told that they're busy. I was then hung up on and received a text message to say my booking had been cancelled. This was at 9.45pm on a Friday night with no other services available. Absolutely appalling service from the only taxi service in Nelson Bay.

Terrible service, unfortunately they get away with it because there’s nobody else in the bay! Waited over an hour and a half for a taxi when originally they said 20min when I ordered it, worth risking a drink driving charge instead of catching a taxi
