”NAROOMA CHARTERS” WHALE WATCHING CRUISES GUARANTEE 100% WHALE SIGHTINGS ON EVERY CRUISE‼️
WE ENJOYED A WHALE TAIL SPLASHING EXTRAVAGANZA
On our way out from Narooma Wharf for our whale watching cruise & a tour of ‘Barunguba’ (aboriginal name) Montague Island (9km away), we saw a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the boat just 15 minutes into the cruise. 5 minutes later we spotted our first whale jumping out of the water, so we got a bit closer & they turned the boat off. We saw 4 whales, they swam right to us - magestically arching their backs up out of the water, popping their heads up to spout & get a breath of air, & wildly splashing their huge tails around. 3 of which swam within metres of the boat & under the boat to the other side. We were blessed with this magical experience for 20 minutes straight! It was incredible, so much more than I expected! The cruise started at 8am & finished at 1.30pm; also including a 2.5 hour guided tour & commentary of historic Montague Island & the lighthouse that was built from hand carved stone in 1881. On approaching the island we were greeted by multiple fur seals - some sunning themselves on the rocks & others splashing around & playing in the water. Some people were snorkeling with the seals! There are multiple species of seabirds that visit the island to nest & breed. On the afternoon cruise you can see the ‘Penguin March’. The cruise was only $140 & well worth every cent! The staff were very friendly & helpful, the Captain gave some great & interesting commentary about the whales, other sea life & information about the area.
To be honest I’d hoped to maybe see a whale. I expected to maybe see a tail splash in the far distance or maybe a whale spout some water - BUT I WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZED & TOTALLY MESMERISED BY 4 WHALES SWIMMING & SPLASHING, SPOUTING & ROLLING AROUND WITHIN A FEW METERS OF THE BOAT FOR OVER 20 MINUTES‼️(See 4 x 30 second video clip below)
? I highly recommend this company for a whale watching tour, I’d have to say that this was my most memorable cruise & holiday I’ve ever been on, & I’ll definitely be returning next whale watching season THANK YOU FOR THE BEST DAY EVER‼️

I recently took a boat tour to Baranguba Montague Island and was quite disappointed with the experience. We made our booking on September 3, 2024 for a journey on October 6, 2024 but upon boarding, we were informed that the tour was overbooked. This left only our group of four girls standing for the entire trip, (about 2 hours to and fro) and with the waters being quite choppy, it was uncomfortable.

We were told that soon after the journey started, people would shuffle and seats would become available, but that didn’t happen.
After the return, we conveyed our concerns, but unfortunately, our feedback wasn’t acknowledged well. While the destination was beautiful, the lack of seating arrangements and poor management really impacted our experience.

Had a great experience on a whale and seal watching tour. Tour the previous day had been cancelled due to weather conditions but they were sure to get us booked in the next day on our choice of replacement. Got lucky and saw an incredible display from a mother and calf. Everyone was friendly and it was lovely to see a family operated business!

Nice staff, had lots of time to swim with seals. The schedule was:
8am leave for Montague Island
Only the people visiting the island could swim with seals. Took about 45 mins, everyone on board just watched and had a coffee. Would have been better if we could snorkel too. Then we dropped of the people visiting the island and from about 9-11:45 the people only snorkeling swam with seals. It was pretty casual and relaxed, parked the boat about 100m from a group of seals floating and they gave you your gear and you self guided out there. Mostly the seals just floated around but occasionally some were jumping out of the water chasing eachother. A younger one came right up and nearly bumped noses with my wife. It was really exciting. Then we picked up the island tourists and were back around 12:30.

We went on this fishing charter as a group July 2023, literally top three highlights of my year! I had the best experience with these guys. They not only helped us reel in when we were on (which was great as I’m not the strongest), but prepped all the fish when we got back to land gutting and scaling them ready for dinner that night , and oh my goodness was is yummy! There’s nothing better than the taste of your own fresh caught fish! ?
Definitely recommend anyone and everyone to experience this at least once in their life - coming from someone who loves a good adventure and life’s experiences ?

Oh and THEY HAVE A TOILET ON BOARD!!! For all the nerves, but you’ll be fine! Have fun!!!!

Excellent experience and would definitely recommended for anyone to try that’s staying in or around Narooma. The island includes a wonderful tour by one of the national park employees all who have an extremely in depth knowledge of the island. We didn’t see any penguins on the island tour but the island was quite stunning in the warm weather. After the island tour we got to go snorkelling off the boat. The water was calm and there was many seals we were able to get right up to and swim with. There was also plenty of underwater life to dive down and look at. The staff on the boat were nice although they did make one o our group members go home for not having shoes or a shirt. They did provide muffins for us which was a nice unexpected bonus. Overall a great experience and something anyone would enjoy.

We had the loveliest time doing the seal snorkel and Montague island tour. You will have a great time going on a clear sunny day with the seals jumping in. Our skipper was very informative with a great sense of humour. Would recommend doing this tour on your first full day in Narooma as it is weather permitting and May get cancelled on days with strong winds or bad weather to allow yourself to go on other days. Come prepared with towels, water, snacks. Wet suits and snorkel gear were provided by the tour operator. Very lovely experience and highly recommend
