Lovely place, Vanessa went out of her way to help. I stay at the Mercure near Central Sydney quite often, so was nice to be away from hustle and have the same atmosphere (if that makes sense). Breakfast by the pool!!
No microwave in room was a little disappointing but overall would stay again and highly recommend

We had a wonderful stay at the Mecure Charlestown. The dinner that we had at the restaurant was the best meal in 23 days of travelling through Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania. The chef is remarkable. Brittney who checked us in also served us in the restaurant. She was professional and friendly and as she was the only staff contact we had, she made our stay so enjoyable. She is a keeper!

Stayed here on a public holiday and had the absolute pleasure of being assisted by a lovely lady named April. She was the only one working that day, and she handled everything perfectly! Her humour, charm, and welcoming attitude made my stay memorable. I hope to see her again on my next visit. The location and rooms were also fantastic—highly recommend!

We had an enjoyable short stay at Mercure Charlestown, with quick and easy check in and check out. The room was neat, clean and tidy. It was handy having the car parked outside the room for easy access and an internal door to the hotel corridor. Breakfast was delicious and well worthwhile.

Had a generally pleasant stay at Mercure Charlestown. The hotel is located on a high area with nice views and a good location close to Newcastle. The rooms are generally nice and clean but a bit tired and old. Of note, there are no lifts, and we were made to take up our own big luggages up the stairs - in hospitality it should always be offered for the hotel to take up the luggages if they don't have lifts.

Unfortunately what ruined the experience for us was the behaviour of some of the staff who seemed very inhospitable and not understanding when it came to a misunderstanding during our stay. It is never ok to take peoples money and not provide people a service, and not take accountability for miscommunications and mistakes on your own part as a hotel. One of the worst experiences we had across any of our stays across the Accor chain, leaving us with a bad taste on our way out.

Great hotel to stay in . Having a pool is wonderful to cool off on hot days. There is a guest laundry, which is always handy.
Spacious rooms, comfortable beds .
I ate at the restaurant menu was good.

The location is amazing, but traffic noise in 101 and loud fridge cutting in and out all night. Had to turn it off and then back on in the morning. Don't stay in this room as you can here the reception phone ringing.

Issue I found was mould in the grout in the shower that is easily fixed if the cleaner had some extra time.

Parking is easy and right at the front of the room door.
