I cannot thank the nurses and staff more for their kind and genuine care and support for my time at the Mater delivering my baby. The care was second to none. No task was too small or too big. The midwives were absolutely brilliant, I couldn’t fault not even one of them. They all took their time to give me the best support and didn’t rush anything. The lactation consultants were equally as brilliant, not pushy, and very positive. My baby went to special care unit and the nurses there were equally as fantastic, and understood my concerns and all the emotions that comes with being a new mother. Facilities were great and the on demand room service also. Thank you so much to everyone at the ward.

Extremely happy with the care I received at the Mater after spinal surgery.
I spent 4 days at the hospital. The nurses in Hurcheson ward and worth their weight in gold. They were attentive and very caring, checked in on me even when not needed.
Meals were great as well for "hospital food" except for coffee!!!... but thank goodness for the cafe downstairs.

Nurses and all the staffs are super cool. Doctors are like your buddies, you can share anything with them. Paul the chaplain is also very good with his patients. Food is also very good. Dr. Renata/ surgeon is also very supportive of her patients pre and post surgery. There is no words can match the team there. God bless you all.

Recently spent 2 Nights at this hospital and had a great experience. Admission was swift, turned up at 6:30am, paperwork done by 7am then into Surgery by 8:30am. I was in the McQuion Ward and have to say what a great team of nurses in this ward. They were all very attentive and all have eachothers backs in peak periods. Food was also great, like being in a hotel.
A special mention goes to Naomi, Karen and Taylor who all showed great care toward me in my recovery after surgery.

I had a fantastic experience at the Mater Hospital. I stayed 2 nights after my thyroid surgery. From admission to discharge, the service was first rate. The staff were very friendly, caring and responsive. The room was good. The food was also above average for hospital food. But mainly, the friendly staff and nurses made the experience very pleasant. Thanks

Just had my second baby at Mater last week. Thank you the amazing midwives team, especially Polly for bringing my baby girl safe into this world, and for your professionalism and care. I didn’t get to see you again after delivery and thank you properly. THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️

And also Sara for your wonderful afterbirth care!

Please do consider another hospital. Horrible experience for knee surgery last year, as others have said a couple staff/nurses were lovely, especially Mohammed i think his name was, but others showed very little compassion or care at all. One nurse was generally rude and lacking in compassion, her name has been mentioned in another review so wont mention here. For a private hospital the service was awful, way worse than RPA.

Physiotherapist was delayed by over an hour so wasn't allowed to go toilet and made to pee sitting down in my bed in a bag, but a nurse surely could have assisted with a wheel chair, which was suggested by one nurse but the aforementioned nurse shot that down, but when the physio arrived later i was suddenly allowed to stand up and walk myself without a wheelchair.

Other stressful situations happened as well and was made to feel silly multiple times, one for not being told that i should learn to meditate to after waking up with extremely high blood pressure and intense pain, having to more than once state that my pain level really was 9/10 and finally given more analgesia, and another for not bringing crutches despite not being told to beforehand and thinking a $15k+ surgery would provide some crutches that i eventually had to buy, which i was fine with, but it was made to be a huge issue at first until i myself had to suggest that i could just buy them there. It should be mentioned RPA gives free crutches, not that that is the fault of the post-op staff at Mater, rather the administrators.

Lip was very swollen and slightly cut post surgery as well, and when hours later i finally found out, aforementioned nurse insisted that i had been told about it despite the opposite being true, until finally a lovely older female nurse came and explained the situation, which was a mistake by the anaesthesiologist who didn't apologise or send someone to do it either.

Further, no one informed my sister who had been waiting outside for 8 hours about my state, despite telling her they would text her when i was done with my surgery which was 4 hours before the time i eventually had to send a message myself, despite not actually being allowed to be on my phone in the post surgery area. She was worried sick.

There were other situations as well, all of which would have been fine if some compassion would have been shown for someone in a lot of discomfort and distress post surgery, and barely having slept or eaten in 21+ hours.

Gave the hospital a 3 star review on their patient feedback form which i felt was generous enough, but someone called me with no pre-warning and was clearly annoyed at my rating, and started countering me at my points, making them seem insignificant, which led to me just not saying anything more and she hung up annoyed, not saying thank you for the feedback or anything.

If anyone can be bothered to read this too-long review, i would not recommend this place at all, the "non profit" slogan seems inappropriate as well.
