The rooms we have stayed were excellent. The two-in-one suite was very spacious and sunny with great view. Each bedroom (including a bathroom) has got a seperate lock to keep the privacy. Not everything was brand new but the bathrooms and the carpet seems to be new and every thing were clean. Not sure what other customers have got but there was no strange smell at all. Customer service was great and the staff were very friendly. Good location, too, with cafe and restaurant around very handy to approach.

Great location and perfectly fine especially when you consider the price. Not sure why anyone would complain about it. It's clean, very spacious (stayed in a one bedroom apartment) and has a decent breakfast (although it would get a bit repetitive if staying for a long time).
Parking spaces are tight as people have mentioned and the pool is fine, but not in a desirable part of the hotel (need to walk down fire exit, etc.) I would absolutely come back next time I'm in Canberra if their prices remain affordable.

This hotel has had some negative reviews of late but I’m perplexed as to why.|It’s a great place to stay and has everything you could need.|Sure the rooms may be a bit tired/dated but this does not impact your stay negatively at all.|Do not let the haters put you off!||We booked a 2 bedroom apartment and it was great. 2 bathrooms, washing machine and dryer, dining table, microwave, full fridge and mini fridge, a lounge suite/sofa bed too and a king & queen bed. The room was made up every day and the housekeeping staff took on board our requests (extra towel, not to re-make the bed etc).||The buffet breakfast was plentiful and nice. It isn’t a 5 star dining experience by any means but it has all your breakfast staples and was an enjoyable start to our days. We were all full up every morning!||Yeah the entrance/exit to the parking garage is tight, but if you do it slowly you’ll be fine. ||We found the Mantra on Northbourne a great place to stay in a fantastic location with shops and food options in abundance. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom premiere view apartment. Room 901/902
Best views in the building sunsets were breathtaking. Apartment was very clean & large good new soft refurbished apartment new bathroom vanity, lots of space for the whole family. Sliding door lock on in 901 a bit dodgy but other than that overall pretty good for an old building. All the staff at reception were fantastic. Breakfast was great value for money too. Very convenient place to stay.
Loved our bottle of wine chocolate brownie for Accor plus Gold member welcome drink & amenity.

To be honest, it's ok. Not good,
- the bathroom had an odd smell when I arrived, I reported it but didn't see a response.
- The room was a good size (I think I was upgraded and I appreciate that) and while they've been renovated, only some parts are new.
- The lock on the door had been removed so I didn't feel very comfortable about that.
- found food under a lounge chair after I moved it a bit - so feel the cleaning service is only average.
- the location of the pool, sauna and gym facilities are definitely does not offer a safe environment.

I wouldn't recommend as my first option.

I will start with the positives.
Reasonable priced for the better part, great location and the room is massive. Tea, coffee, kettle, mini fridge and iron with ironing board. AC split system.
Average gym but I liked it, loved the sauna and there is a small/short pool.

The negatives. No body soap in the bottle, minor I know. The shower is very average.
In morning there was only lukewarm water and I need to boil the kettle so I could shave, however when I returned in the afternoons there was very hot water from the sink tap. Go figure.

The internet was very poor, even after signing up as a member to be on the self proclaimed "better, faster" network. There were times that is stop working and I had to disconnect and reconnect.

We stayed in family room 116/117 over the ANZAC long weekend.

The room was dated, poorly lit and smelled bad but the most unsatisfactory thing was how dirty the room was.

There were recent and older stains on walls and skirtings from spilled drinks, hairs on crockery, filthy carpet, broken floor lamp, and grubby surfaces.

The windows were dirty inside and out and the bathroom had a persistent dank smell.
The location is good - but we have stayed in three other accomodations nearby and will never stay here again.

We remarked to each other that we have stayed in cheap accomodation in developing countries that was cleaner - and have stayed in countless older, cheaper hotels and motels domestically that were maintained and cleaned to a better standard.

The reception staff member we dealt with had a rude and disinterested mannerism to both my partner and I.

The pool area is not as presented on the website and other guests there remarked to us how horrible it was. The heating was not working - sure, this happens - but it was a horrible claustrophobic, dirty space regardless.

The 2 stars above is given purely on location.

Despite the fact the room is ageing - you can do better than this. The grubby room meant that our time at the hotel was the worst part of our family weekend away and we will not stay at a Mantra again!

Great serviced apartment style room, awesome. location so close to the CBD. The service was efficient, happy and polite and the welcome bonuses were a nice touch. Parking was easy, convenient and a great rate compared to surrounding parking options. Will definitely be staying here again.
