We ordered off the Tuesday specials board. Meals were fine and would be happy to eat there again. Didn't have Great Northern Super Crisp on tap so we had to settle for canned beer with lunch.

Beautiful big room with great facilities. Comfy beds and clean linens. The bathtub was huge and the water pressure was amazing! The family room had a big bed plus three singles and was so spacious! Price is exceptional! The pizzas are delicious too.

Our group of 4 dined at the Hotel tonight and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. They were all very tasty and generous. We would definitely dine here again. The dining room looked like it had been very well maintained, almost like it was still in its original state, which is a good thing. The staff were quite young but very friendly and efficient, which is sometimes not always the case from my experience. 5 Stars*****

We stopped here for lunch and the specials were very well priced. $30 for 2 chicken parmigiana’s was excellent value. They were big and delicious. The wooden bar is definitely something to have a look at. A very unique old pub steeped in history.

WOW what an amazing venue. Old Queensland pub. Biggest wooden Australian pub. Great food. Cheap real oysters on a monday. Giant fresh prawns. Beautiful timbers everywhere. Definitely worth a visit

The BIG Pub as it is called now, is the place to go for all of your family, corporate, private needs; and also to just have a drink at the bar 😉
They have wonderful service, all the staff are very happy and eager to serve you. They have very good valued meals and the Food is dang great, if I do say so myself.
Definitely a must go to place, for dinning, drinking, catching up with mates or even staying.
Highly Recommended. See for your selves.

We all had a day off so decided to drive up the Gillies Range from Cairns, Via Gordonvale. The drive was interesting 40ish km of winding mountain Roads (all in great condition).|One of the first buildings you see when you arrive in town is the Malanda Hotel, it’s over 100 years old, and seems to be in very good condition. I / we wanted a nice lunch, so headed straight in. The place was quite busy, even though we were reasonably early. (There was a bus load of tourists in the public bar) The waitress was VERY friendly and apologetic that our meal might take a while. We did not consider the wAit excessive. The steak I had was GREAT, tender, maybe a little undercooked , but I like it that way. I thought the salad was a little overdressed, but very nice and I left none. My wife had grilled fish, and same salad, she said the fish was 5/5! And really enjoyed the salad. Our son had a grilled chicken burger, he also had zero complaints. All serving sizes were big. We would definitely eat here again !
