We had the most wonderful dinner last night at Magpie’s Nest.

The service was warm and welcoming.

The venue is just fabulous and creates a unique ambience.

Now the food/meal! It was creative, delicious and incredible! From Entree to desert! The lamb backstraps were mouthwatering and the Tasmanian salmon was divine.

Deserts were a great portion and fabulous.

The wines and selection of whiskeys (to top it all off) was great too.

A wonderful evening!

When we first got there it was hard to tell where the entrance was. When we got in it was really quite and lacked atmosphere. The decor is also really random.

The server was nice but it took a minimum of 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared each time.

The menu is decently sized. But the way it is written is very artsy in a bad way. It was confusing trying to figure out what was on the dishes.

The first course salad was awful but the bread and olive oil were great. Our appetizers were okay but lacked something.

The mains were quite nice. One of the dessert was awesome and the other wasn't what we ordered. Not only was it not what we ordered it was also burnt on the bottom.

Overall very expensive and not very worth it. Unfortunately we won't be back. Don't waste your money here.

Beautiful venue. Superb winter menu. Service wonderful : lovely accommodating waitresses. Food excellent & plentiful for price. Winter : sorry to say but “room” was chilly : did not take off my full length mohair coat all night : 6pm sitting. Thank you for all. BTW … your home Merlot is beyond “smooth” …. Bought a bottle at end of evening : highly recommend. Cheers team … amazing ( please just turn the heat up a little in winter months).

This is a treasure that is worth looking for. Just out of Wagga Wagga near the university is this special dining experience. There is a limited menu with four choices of main and four for dessert. However, along with the homely baked bread and olive oil with dukķa for appetiser and delicious entree selection, every main dish is special and fabulous. Noone in our party was disappointed.

The staff are attentive and friendly. The wines and cocktails are worth splurging on - especially as this extraordinary meal is just $60 per head.

It is perfect for that special occasion, or just to spoil yourself and the one/those you love.

Worth coming to Wagga just for this place. The food was delicious and fresh and clean. Serving sizes were perfect. I got the lamb kleftiko and the lemon/mandarin tart which were both fantastic and backed up my the entrees and sides that were included as part of the deal.

Late afternoon light paints the stone walls of this former 1860s stable a glowing orange. It streams into the glass-fronted dining room, where (very) well-spaced tables give you the airspace to completely focus on your own conversation. A bubbly floor team explain how the ($60/head) all inclusive menu works, while we neck jalapeño margaritas ($19/each). As Wagga Wagga’s premier wedding venue, the kitchen have evolved a formula that allows them to serve a lot of people fast.

Entrees are set - extraordinary salad greens and tomatoes from the garden, a generous portion of bread oil and dukkah, then a plate of hot canapés. Each item—smoked trout croquettes made with four types of cheese garnished with pickled ginger; kangaroo kofte and puff pastry tarts with darkly caramelised onion jam—punches flavour. Mains you get to select yourself. The Riverina lamb rack is evenly cooked with a juicy pink interior, and a surprisingly good sweet potato. Crisp cabbage roesti is the star of the chicken supreme, accompanied by sticky chickpeas and spinach gomae—a Japanese-inspired sesame treatment. A bowl of garden-fresh cooked vegetables is equally as compelling as the mains.

Dessert isn’t my favourite course, but I liked the burnt butter peach that came with the panna cotta. I found the orange blossom flavouring, mulled wine syrup, edible flowers and gingerbread crumble to be overkill. For a $6/cheese add-on we tried three local cheeses on a well-presented cheese board, prompting a drive to Coolamon cheese the next day. Local produce and careful cooking makes Magpies Nest Restaurant a winner whether you’re here for a wedding or for a romantic dinner for two and a twilight stroll through the grounds to take in the sunset.
