What a gem of a place! This was our second stay and I’m fairly certain it won’t be our last! We wanted some peace and quiet and to have a rest away from it all over New Year, and five nights at Mountain Ash was the perfect choice! The drive up Mt Toolebewong, the magnificent views, the comfy, spotlessly clean cottage with everything we could possibly wish for made sure of that! We even had a delicious three-course meal cooked by a local chef delivered to our door on NYE for an extremely reasonable extra cost. We didn't need to go anywhere, although it is a short drive to all the conveniences and delights of the Yarra Valley. Did I mention the views? We loved it! One of the best we've stayed in, and we've stayed in a lot!

James and I were greeted by a warm and friendly welcome by the lovely Tessa. She showed us into our cottage and gave us some great information about the area.
The views are superb.
Bed was comfortable and we were warm and toasty.
We were able to spot a Lyrebird and 3 wombats! Plus an array of other flora and fauna. I was in heaven!
Highly recommend!
We will definitely be back.

A private entrance to the cottage, easy parking and location is set on top of a mountain with beautiful views.
Mountain Ash Cottage gives a warm, relaxed feeling as soon as you enter. You could easily stay here for a week! Very clean inside, great assortment of coffee, tea, breakfast options.

Stewart and Tessa were very kind, gave us privacy and space but were always a phone call or text away if you need anything.

They've thought of the little things that make this cottage stand out... locally sourced bubble bath and essential oils for the spa, luxury towels, heated towel rack, delicious (home-made ?) fresh loaf of bread, book case and binoculars for bird watching.

You're a good 12 - 15 mins drive from main street of Healesville but the privacy and views are worth the drive. If you need a moment of peace in a busy lifestyle, this is the place to be. We plan on returning and staying longer!

Lyrebird cottages are simply fabulous. We stayed 4 nights, and would have happily stayed longer. || Everything has been though of - from the order in menu, to the wines for purchase in the cottage, to the marshmallows provided for the hot chocolate. ||The one con is the cottage is a drive up an unsealed road, which whilst in good condition wasn’t something we wanted to do in the dark, which meant we self catered for evening meals. This was no hardship though, as watching the sunsets and the lights of Melbourne coming on in the far distance was great. ||Tessa and Stewart are excellent hosts - welcoming and happy to provide suggestions for things to do in the area. And watching a lyrebird singing and fluffing his tail down the bottom of the garden was priceless.

From the moment we arrived the bushland location, position of the cottages, and the outlook took our breath away - truly special. So much thought has gone into the guest experience in this stunning place and space. Curated with so much thought, our cottage was furnished and equipped with every amenity we could possibly need, with wonderful breakfast provisions and pantry basics supplied too. A wander on the short nature trail is an added bonus to enjoy.
Everything about Lyrebird cottages is impressive and we will one day return for another stay.

So impressed with our outstanding Mountain Ash cottage stay. 5 star worthy - delivering on space and peace. Thanks to Tessa and Stewart, for the delicious breakfasts, clean, roomy and private accommodation with superb views and autumn colours. The books to read or purchase such a nice touch, including bird books and the use of binoculars. Enjoyed watching the wombats wandering at night and seeing a lyrebird on the property. The candles, oils, games and art supplies, all such thoughtful inclusions. Really appreciated the heated towel rail, choice of log fire or heater, comfortable bed, big functional kitchen, convenient separate toilet and welcoming spa.
Highly recommend staying at Lyrebird cottages and wouldn't hesitate coming back

Superb accommodation. Everything needed was provided - excellent kitchen items. Very calm, peaceful, spotlessly clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable, spa a treat, local wildlife an added bonus - and yes we were lucky enough to see a Lyrebird. And pleased to report the jigsaw puzzle in the cupboard was complete 🙂

Our accommodation was excellent and beautifully appointed. Our hosts had everything we could ask for on hand, were helpful when needed yet otherwise left us to quietly enjoy our beautiful surroundings. Comfortable, spacious accommodation. Just the right amount of breakfast supplies and supplements to assist cooking for ourselves, as well as the ability to have cooked evening meals delivered if required. Enjoyed the birdlife and scenery once again and it is certainly worth the journey into the ranges to avail yourself of this peaceful retreat.
