This New Years Eve Experience was spectacular from start to finish! The more intimate setting on the sole proprietor craft was lovely and very relaxing. John, Lynn, and their crew were so welcoming and you felt like you were with family. Lynn prepared a delicious meal from appetizers to desserts that reflected the local cuisine and went beyond expectations!! This was on my bucket list and I put it right back on to do this excursion again. John’s “spot” for the fireworks was fabulous and we had a perfect view of the harbor, bridge, and Opera House. I want to thank Lynn and John from the bottom of my heart for a New Year’s Eve that I will always remember!!!

Great fireworks cruise NYE Sydney Harbour.
Excellent NYE 2024/2025 on Sydney Harbour. Delivered very good drinks, food and harbour experience for about 50 adults on the Sydney Sundancer. Owners / hosts were professional and the whole night included an excellent viewing spot, which was very well received by all on board.

We had the most unforgettable day celebrating my beautiful wife's 40th birthday aboard the Sydney Sundancer on March 3rd, 2025. From start to finish, John, the owner, made the planning seamless and tailored every detail perfectly for our special occasion. His warmth and hospitality truly set the tone for a fantastic experience.

David, a member of John's team, was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the charter. His genuine care and exceptional service ensured everyone felt comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the stunning views of Sydney Harbour.

The Sydney Sundancer itself was immaculate, luxurious, and provided the perfect setting for our celebration. It was truly a memorable experience that exceeded all our expectations.

Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible, Unexpected

With so many boats to choose from to view Sydney’s world-famous New Years Eve Fireworks Display, the decision on which boat to book was difficult, until we heard from charter yacht: “Sydney Sundancer”. Friendly owners: Lynne & John Boyce have been conducting cruises on Sydney Harbour for more than 30 years & their knowledge & experience stood head & shoulders above the rest. They took the time to detail exactly where they would anchor and why, what food & beverage would be served AND what to expect while aboard their yacht!

Using the schematic diagram issued by the Maritime Authority and the exploded view that I have attached to this review, Captain John marked the spot (with a indigo blue rectangular dot) where he was going to anchor, right on the very edge of the perimeter of the exclusion zone so that no other boats could obstruct our view of all the evenings activities. He identified the route (shown in yellow) that the Harbour Light Parade vessels would take as they cruised around Sydney Harbour between the two firework displays passing immediately past “Sydney Sundancers” location. He explained there were 4 firework barges, 2 on the east (right hand) side of the Harbour Bridge and 2 on the west (left hand). These barges are in the centre of large circles shown in the schematic diagram. Identical firework displays are set off electronically at exactly the same time, so each of the four firework displays are a mirror of each other in the sky and there is no other location on Sydney Harbour from where this vista and the Opera House can be observed at the same time. John indicated that if a horizontal line was drawn on the diagram from Sydney Sundancer’s location (blue dot) to the centre of the Harbour Bridge, it would almost perfectly dissect the three distant firework barges, while the closest (4th) firework barge (less than 200 metres away) would provide the explosion sound of fireworks, so loud that you would feel like you were in a war zone.

With the promise of Bollinger Champagne and fine Australian wines to be served all evening AND Lynne’s magnificent menu that included Lobster, Prawns, Oysters, whole baked Atlantic Salmon, barbeque glazed leg of Ham, Asian inspired marinated Beef Eye Fillet & home roasted Turkey, accompanied by healthy and delicious salads, we were already sold on their service! Then we discovered that the 2 dessert cakes which followed would be home-made & baked in the shape of Australia, then adorned with the national flags of guests aboard. This was a really nice welcome “touch” because almost all guests aboard were from foreign countries.

The whole sounded too good to be true until John & Lynne supported by 4 attentive crew members delivered exactly what they had promised. We could not have been happier. The whole experience will live with us forever…

Being on the water for the start of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race aboard the Sydney Sundancer was an absolutely spectacular experience!

From maintaining a enviable position on the perimeter / exclusion zone to see the race (which is no mean feat...), to following the fleet as they progress to the heads, to the secluded bay where we enjoyed a marvellous meal (Lynne is an accomplished chef and has a cook book to prove it), to the entertainment and company aboard, we had a thrilling and wonderful day. John and Lynne are also incredible hosts and genuinely wonderful humans. I recommend joining them on the Sydney Sundancer for a charter at least once in your life.

I hired the Sydney Sundancer to celebrate 2 birthdays and an engagement and even though the weather decided to chuck it down we all had the best time. Owners John and Lynne were great hosts and Lynne took some amazing pictures of us all on her camera which she sent over for free. We had a group of 40 of us and there was plenty of space for all of us.

Don’t hesitate to book the Sydney Sundancer, you’ll have a fantastic time.
