The view here is truly amazing, and it's not far from the Twelve Apostles viewpoint, making it an easy addition to your trip. However, do note that the walking path down to the beach view spot has been closed since last year, so you can only enjoy the stunning view from the top cliff area. The parking is limited but free, so it’s great if you can grab a spot. You can still take in the incredible scenery from the walking track at the end, but if you were hoping to get closer to the beach, that's no longer an option. Still, definitely worth the visit for the panoramic views!

This view is amazing. Not far from twelve apostles view point.

But the walking down to the beach view spot has been CLOSED from last year.

We can only see the view from the top cliff around the parking area and walking track through the end view spot.

The parking spot is limited but free.

Amazing place, almost exactly the same as the 12 Apostles but far less crowded. Views were amazing and I believe you can get down to shore though it was too windy for us to try.

Loch Ard Gorge is a truly breathtaking destination for us, featuring some of the most stunning beaches I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Located along the iconic Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia, this pristine cove is a must-see for any beach lover or nature enthusiast.

As you descend the steep cliffside stairs and emerge onto the sand, you are immediately struck by the picture-perfect scenery that surrounds you. The beach is a secluded haven, sheltered by towering limestone cliffs that rise up dramatically on either side. The clear turquoise water laps gently against the shore, inviting you to take a refreshing dip or explore the interesting rock formations that dot the cove.

A striking feature is its crystal clear water. On a calm day, the sea is so transparent that you can see all the way to the bottom, even in the deeper areas offshore. This makes it perfect for snorkelling or scuba diving, as you can easily spot colourful marine life and underwater caverns. The water is also incredibly warm during the summer months, making it ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

The beach itself is equally impressive, with soft white sand that feels like powder between your toes. The shore is dotted with interesting rock formations, including towering stacks and hidden coves that are fun to explore at low tide. If you're lucky, you might even spot some of the local wildlife, such as fur seals or dolphins, playing in the waves offshore.

Besides its natural beauty, Loch Ard Gorge also has a rich history that adds to its appeal. The cove is named after the Loch Ard, a clipper ship that sank nearby in 1878 with tragic loss of life. A short walk from the beach takes you to a memorial dedicated to the victims, providing a poignant reminder of the region's maritime past.

This trip was truly unforgettable and a destination that should be on every traveller's bucket list. simply take in the breathtaking views, it’s not to be missed.

Loch Ard Gorge, a hidden gem along the Great Ocean Road trip. A popular tourist destination known for its stunning natural beauty and unique geological features. Breathtaking panoramic views of the turquoise ocean, the rugged coastline with crystal clear waters, and the surrounding cliffs as far as the eyes can see.

Get there early or later in the evening. The whole place is extremely busy at peak times. But totally worth the wait

Ample parking space. Thete were severap interesting walking paths. No tickets required. When I was there, the stairs to the beach was closed for maintenance. The views were fantastic
