Our sleep in the Napoleon room was disturbed during the night due to the ringing and gonging of multiple clocks in the clock shop that was located directly under our room. The room was advertised as a quiet place to unwind. The next day my wife texted the owner about this, who assured us that we would sleep well the following night as he would arrange to fix the problem. Unfortunately, there was no change to the clock noises on the following night. The next morning we spoke with the owner, who apologised, stating that he should have turned off all of the clocks. We canceled our next night's stay and had to find alternative accommodation. The owner went back on his word after we left and failed to compensate us for this. Also marring our stay was the strong mouldy smell permeating from the stairwell into the 3 rooms of our apartment. The local council sent an officer to investigate the smell and he agreed that there was a problem. The owner was unreasonable and threatening. Sadly we had to take the matter to VCAT to receive compensation. A terrible experience.

Garburn

We spent 3 nights here for a short break last week. Due to room availability, we spent the first two nights in the Napoleon Suite (upstairs) and the third night in the Garden Suite (downstairs). They are very different arrangements is terms of space, décor, accessibility etc. but both are very nice for their own reasons. Rob is a lovely guy and met us on arrival to show us through. He helped us with suggestions regarding eating out as well. On the room change day, he had the new room ready before 10:00am so we were able to transfer our gear directly from one room to the other. We were surprised to find extras like a fresh loaf of bread, a block of chocolate, a pack of potato chips, a litre of milk and a litre of fruit juice provided in the room together with butter and a selection of jams etc. as well as the usual tea and coffee. The coffee is provided by a pod machine and a milk frother. The showers in both rooms deliver a quality shower. Probably the most important thing is that the beds in both rooms were very comfortable. Cafe's and shops are really close by as you are on a corner in the main street, however, the main street is not a thoroughfare so traffic noise is not a problem. Woolworths is a short 50m walk for supplies. We heard nothing with respect to clocks in the clock repair shop downstairs mentioned by a previous reviewer but we could hear the town hall clock when we were in the upstairs room - so would all residents in the vicinity.||I would recommend staying here if you are looking for something more luxurious than your regular motel. Rob has done a great job renovating/restoring and decorating the accommodation to a very high standard. We were very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely, modern accomodation in the heart of the town of Stawell. Great stay! Bed is very plush and comfortable, bathroom is big with decent vanity and huge shower, great little kitchenette with pod coffee machine and chair and table. Milk, bread, juice, butter, spreads and bottled water included for a nice start to the day. Woolworths, local bakery and shops are practically on your doorstep, a 1 - 2 minute walk. Lovely little garden too.

Also marring our stay was the mouldy smell permeating from the stairwell into the 3 rooms of our apartment; there was dust on the floor in the decorative part of the entrance area which is closed off to guests, but which they view through a black wrought iron grille, through to a French sideboard with decorative candlesticks; a used tissue on the floor next to the sideboard; dust on the sideboard in our bedroom; and the owner had failed to provide us with the soy milk that we had requested when we booked. The owner told us that he would make amends for our problems, but he later changed his mind.

A wonderfully restored property where it is easy to rest and relax. A magnificent sleigh bed in a graciously furnished bedroom decorated for the period, crisp white linen, a luxurious new elegant bathroom, and well appointed kitchenette make this a memorable stay. Thanks Rob.

We stayed here for 2 nights in the Napoleon Suite (the reviewer below was in the Garden Suite).||||It was very comfortable with views over the main street. It was pretty quiet at night.||||Parking is available on the street outside.||||Rob met us when we arrived and welcomed us and showed us around the apartment.||||I would certainly recommend staying here again.

Very comfortable, homely and spotless accommodation. Right on the main road with parking and shops. Nice touches such as snacks, bread, milk and juice provided. Modern decor and variety of amenities - sensor lights, TV, usb charging ports, ironing available, hair dryer, walk in shower (good pressure), thick windows for sound proofing, fridge, indoor and outdoor seating. Decorated very nicely. Minimalist feel with maximal homeliness. Thankyou for the lovely stay.
