We had a wonderful meal at Merlot during our stay in Milawa. The food was excellent! Beautifully presented, well-balanced, and clearly crafted with care... There seemed to be a touch of French influence in both the technique and flavour profiles, which added a refined, elegant touch to the experience. We were honestly surprised, happily.

The front-of-house team were warm, attentive, and quite knowledgeable about both the menu and the local wine list. Their country hospitality really elevated the experience and made us feel right at home.

A perfect combination of great food, thoughtful service, and relaxed regional charm. Highly recommended!

The wife and I had a beautiful stay at Lancemore Milawa. The setting is peaceful and surrounded by vineyards, with stunning views and a relaxed vibe. The rooms were stylish and very comfortable, and the staff were warm and welcoming. The food and wine were a real highlight — absolutely delicious, and better than many places in Melbourne! It’s also a great base for exploring local favourites like Brown Brothers, Milawa Cheese, and the charming shops nearby. Would definitely return.

In all my hotel stays, this was hands down the worst breakfast buffet I’ve experienced (I include backpacker hostels in my comparison). The standard was incredibly low - a very limited selection, with just some waffles and a few apples on offer. I'd expect much better from a 4 star hotel (the Lancemore Red Hill I've stayed at had a much better offering). Although the cooked breakfast offering was decent. Either do a buffet well or don't bother.

We stayed mid week which meant bar and restaurant were closed which was a bit of a weird dead atmosphere in the hotel. Perhaps have the bar open for shortened hours to create a bit more atmosphere would help. There was a good restaurant a 5 min walk away called Ava.

Rooms themselves were great and comfortable

On the whole not worth the money but could be improved with some minor tweaks

What was a cold, gloomy winter’s day in Melbourne instantly became a relaxing, toasty, luxurious retreat the moment we stepped through the door at Lancemore Milawa. We were greeted by warm, friendly staff (thank you Imogen and Serena) and taken to our spacious and homely room. Whilst the decor and paintings throughout the building were chic, they were modest enough to let the outside scenery do the talking! After much internal deliberation on dinner - every item on the menu was enticing - I settled for the Consommé entree, Pelmini main, and Thai basil parfait dessert. I was not disappointed with my final choice, and neither was anyone else at our table! Bold flavour combinations with enlightening background stories to match (thank you for exceptional service Emilio and Craig)! Breakfast had an elegant take on the classic buffet options with baristas and chefs serving drinks and hot menu items (thank you to the two lovely ladies attentively serving us). Whether we put our feet up in our own room by the fire or cozied up in one of the common living areas, the view from every window and the overall serenity took over you. I was so sad to leave, but even the goodbye committee (thank you Ros, Serena and also Adam at the door) was a reminder of the "special treatment" I’ve just experienced and where I’d like to be again in the very near future! Thank you so much to Serena and her memorable team!

We had an incredible dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The sauces were a standout- packed with flavour and elevating every dish. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Overall, a perfect evening- we’ll definitely be back with friends!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Ros at the front desk, leaving us with a wonderful first impression. Our well-appointed room offered a lovely view of the vineyard and the beautifully maintained grounds.||The highlights of our visit were the exceptional friendliness of the staff—especially Ros—the delicious and inventive à la carte breakfast menu, and the incredibly comfortable bed.

Greeting at reception was great and rooms are spacious and clean. Food was the only let down. We had duck on the first night and it was probably the worst thing we’d ever eaten. Texture was like it was cooked under a grill and practically raw on the inside. Felt so bad for them, we tucked it into a tissue and took it to the bin. It was truly revolting and there were only 6 people in the restaurant. Breakfast was fine, but we didn’t return for dinner again. Suggest you look at alternatives. Great checkout and check-in experience.
