Can't think of a more peaceful, easily accessible spot for a picnic on a hot day. Followed by a paddle or swim. Sadly there are much fewer birds since the fires but hopefully that will change with time. The big old trees along the shoreline are waiting for them.

Had the most beautiful morning at this lake. Great parking that takes your right near the waters edge. We were the only people there on a sunny sunday morning, apart from a couple of anglers. Saw them catch fish.

Halls Gap is resplendent in walking tracks, and there's a trail all the way from town to this lake for those who enjoy a longer walk, or there's parking at both ends if you're driving. It's quite beautiful, and possible to walk along the wall and get views back across the lake. Worth a visit. And if you do visit, don't limit yourself to the end of the lake closest to town. The far end is quite different and lovely, and is worth a look too.

A very tranquil lake on the day I was there winter 2020. Not a breath of wind leaving the surface like a mirror. Amenities include, toilets, playing area all ages, and camp/picnic tables in shaded areas.

I love this place. You can walk along the dam wall, and view the spillway. The rocks change colour with the fading light, and so does the water. A nice diversion/break from the bush walks and climbing.
