Must visit park when you are in Kalbarri. Breathtaking views to see nature’s beauty in its full glory. There’s a lot of things to see and do so I suggest you stay at least 2 nights or you will miss out. Most of the sights are free and you only have to pay A$17 per car to enter the park proper. Also lots of good food and friendly people.

We recently enjoyed a couple of days exploring the national park and its gorgeous gorges, taking in very nice Lookouts and some scenic hiking trails while enjoying spring blooms and good wildlife spotting.

The Skywalk attraction which perches over the Murchison Gorge standing 100 metres above the ground is a great place to visit. Loved the river views and seeing the national park environs extending into the distance.

We also found Nature's Window and the Loop Trail nearby to make for several very good morning hours in Kalbarri. Nearby Z Bend offers another nice lookout and short hike and the southern lookouts at Hawk's Head and Ross Graham make for good spots to rare Black-flanked Rock Wallabies while admiring the scenery.

In addition to the main park, we found the Kalbarri Coastal Cliffs to be quite impressive. There are a handful of side roads that lead to more impressive Lookouts and additional trails along the cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. We were treated to very beautiful seascapes and very good whale watching as well. Spotted loads of them offshore breaching and blowing during our recent August visit. Bring a pair of binoculars to help with searching for the Humpbacks.

Spring flowers were doing well this season as well, at times carpeting the ground with yellows, white, pinks and other colour of blooms. Wildlife spotting was pretty good as well. We saw wallabies mentioned above, quite a few kangaroos, feral goats, blue-tongued skink, emu and some interesting birdlife sightings as well.

Overall, really enjoyed our time in Kalbarri National Park and Coast. Would gladly return to spend a few days exploring the park, taking in the lookout points and different trails.

At Kalbarri National Park there are so many gorgeous look out points. It’s a great place for a nature walk. If you happen to be there in the summer, get there nice and early so you can explore before the heat sets in. We saw lots of wildlife, including kangaroos!

Stunning views, well looked after, informative info stands, a cafe and a toilet, enough parking. A must visit! Can get too hot in the summer though as stones heat up in the sun and hold the heat. Put on sunscreen and wear breathable fabrics that cover up the skin and keep you cool.

Beautiful national park with bush and cliff. We did The Loop a 9km walking trail which was great to get up and close to the river and the amazing rock formations through the gorge. Can be very hot, so take lots of water and a hat. But many flies... If you plan to do much hiking, you'll find that a fly net is a wonderful invention and will make the flies bearable.

Kalbarri National Park in Western Australia is about 22 miles (36 km) west of the beautiful coastal town of Kalbarri and 84 miles (136 km) north of Geraldton Airport (GET) and about 290 miles (570 km) from Perth. The park surrounds the Murchison River, where it meets the Indian Ocean with great 50 miles (80 km) gorge through the red and white bent sandstone to create scenic formation such as The Loop, Hawks Head, Z-Bend, and Nature’s Window. Kalbarri National Park is a perfect stop for Western Australia’s Coral Coast trippers that stretches from Turquoise in the south to the Exmouth in the north.

By car it takes around 6-7 hours from Perth to Kalbarri, but it took me long since, at midway, I stopped at The Pinnacles of Nambung National Park and made frequent stops to enjoy the breathtaking scenes on the Indian Ocean Drive.
