If I could give less than 1 star I would. VERY few of the nurses are lovely. The rest could not care less. This is the only emergency room where you have to first ask permission to even get in the door. NOTHING is an emergency at this hospital. When my mother presented with a migrain the nurse Shelly was speaking extremely loudly, when i asked if she could lower her voice i was told "Probably not." She continued to be extremely rude and loud (not ideal when suffering migraine). After an hour of waiting i asked if it would be much longer before anybody saw my mother to be told "it will be awhile yet, we only have 2 drs." There was ONE other patient in the so called, 'emergency' department, who was sitting on a bed talking to the nurses, 4 nurses walking around, and at least one dr sitting at a computer. We promptly left and went to our GP who was able to see mum and give her pain relief immediately. Ingham hospital is an absolute joke. If you have an actual immergency i suggest driving to literally ANY other hospital.

Disappointed with attention to detail during recent visit to Emergency Dept on 1/1/24. I had to repeat my issue to 3 different "nurses", the 3rd time I asked had she referred to my chart as I had told 2 previous "nurses" of my issue. I was told that those 2 "nurses" had gone off shift. So what, read my chart.
Very disappointing effort by these "front line workers"

I had to visit the Ingham Hospital Emergency Department on Saturday night. I could see the staff there were very busy with other issues. They looked after me as soon as they could & answered any queries I had as quickly as they could. Was put into the ward for overnight observation & was looked after there as promptly & as well as possible.

Absolutely horrible place to seek help if your mentally unwell. I told the dr I was feeling suicidal and I wanted to kill myself & that I had a plan. He said to me "well you are an adult and if that is the decision you would like to make then you may leave and do just that, no one can stop you"

What a lovely doctor!

Absolute disgrace in compassion from the doctor on duty today. Nurses are fantastic. But for a family to fly up from Sydney to see a sick family member and wait 2 hours with young children to ask if we could get an update from the Dr to then be told rudely "I'll get to you when I get to you". You may be in there every day but have some compassion for people who have travelled a long way to potentially see family members for the last time. Get another job. Disgrace of a human being to operate in such an environment.

I believed I had a blood clot as I have had them before and know how they present. Went to the ED at Ingham Hospital and waited two and a half hours to be seen. Not a big deal but when the female doctor (Sarah) came in she just said, without any examination, that I did not have a blood clot because I was on blood thinners. She did not even examine me. She could tell I was not satisfied with her conduct and arrogantly said "what do you expect us to do" I said I wanted an ultrasound but she said coldly "we don't have any ultrasound here." Being a Saturday I thought she meant on weekends, so I asked if I could get one on Monday". She condescendingly replied they never do ultrasounds at the hospital. She then wrote a referral to a private imaging centre. I am on a pension and wanted to know if they bulked billed. Her terse reply "ring them up and ask them". I would have received better treatment from a witch doctor. At least I would have gotten a song and ritual dance out of him.

A hospital that when opened couldn't deliver a child and sent people via ambulance 100+kms to TGH. Poorly designed, the angled parking out front has no access forcing you to walk all the way around and back up, previously there were steps. They put a car park with roughly 50-60 spots onsite and installed no less than 18 give way signs. The helipad wasn't built correctly. Other basic services were absent for some time. An absolute money pit with not much good to show for it. The staff are hit and miss. I witnessed nurses who did not know how to move an elderly patient from gurney to bed causing pain and discomfort. During one visit as a carer I had a run in with one of the doctors who was rude. I wrote a letter of complaint via registered mail and to the absolute credit of the Dean of Nursing it was the best apology letter I've ever seen, maybe it's practice.. I've seen a doctor not know how to stitch and require a nurse to do it. Hospital isn't a place you want to be in the first place, and this one is probably lower on the list. That being said, I'm not sure if any of the private practices will be significantly better.

I took my Gran baby with his Mum and Dad to the emergency to see a doctor in regards to his fever, runny nose, and flemie chest and one of the nurses (didn't get her name) was very rude! The "nurse" asked us why did we not take baby to the local GP and I replied with because their all full and really busy......could not fit or see anyone. She then replied with Well we are really busy too with sarcasm and told us to wait in the seating area. Hmmmm no wonder people go off at staff coz of the attitude.
