The Safari tents are located strategically facing the mountains, so one can sit on the deck & watch the lighting change. The tents are comfortable, although there is some leakage at the base of the ties that hold the windows closed when it rains. AND IT DID RAIN. Tents have a kettle, but no crockery or cutlery, meaning you either eat at the resort restaurant or eat cold food. The restaurant has a varied menu & is good quality. The resort staff are friendly & helpful, especially about walks & local conditions, e.g. after the rains some roads were closed.

Stayed in a 2 person safari tent over Oct long weekend at an eye watering $600 a night. Tent is comfortable with nice bathroom. Generally quiet tho tents are not soundproof if you have a noisy neighbour. Our fridge didnt work but a call to reception brought a new fridge quickly. Porch light not working - was reported but not fixed but not a big deal but for $600 a night Staff were very friendly. Restaurant food was good ( crocodile and prawn laksa very tasty but partners chicken was dry) and a tad pricey. But biggest disappointment was breakfast - tinned fruit, croissants and pastries not replenished, and the usual scrambled eggs, bacon etc. For $600 which was B&B i expected much more. Location of resort was great and the Flinders is great.

We were happy with our stay, but for $300+ a night, I expected the tent to be furnished nicer - felt very basic.

They tents are also placed quite close together and we had noisy neighbors when we arrived but they soon quiet down.

But it had a hot shower, cold air con, was peaceful, and we had a great sleep. Bar staff were also lovely.

Beautiful location… but that is unfortunately all. |I love writing great reviews, but I’m at a loss to find anything positive to say about our experience. ||Tent zipper was broken (so we hope future patrons love mozzies as much as we do. LOL. Advertised as “serviced daily “ yet the only “service staff” we ever saw was when they pulled up the resort vehicle to service the vacated tent next to ours, their car windows and doors open and loud radio broadcasting (so that they can hear it inside the tent perhaps?) So we had to ask them to please turn their blasting radio down? The response was “oh is someone sleeping there?” on which we answered that not only was it none of their business (AS IF we needed a reason to ask them to turn them radio down!), but we actually paid a fair amount of money to actually come here to enjoy the silence! ||Some of the staff seemingly have no idea that we (paying patrons) are actually the very reason they have a job… and we’re not asking them to do us a nice favour.||The services staff did not even change the mugs we used for tea for fresh ones… and bear in mind, there is no facility for us to wash the mugs ourselves! They did not put foot in our tent at all actually. Clearly one cuppa is enough over a few days in this “Spoil yourself” package where staff treat you as a nuisance when you request silence.||The tent was clean enough, but the shower could have been cleaner. ||The food portions at the restaurant are quite large and are tasty enough.||Overall: Really a poor experience compared to how it is presented in the advertisements.

We stayed 2 nights in a Safari Tent and were pleasantly surprised after reading negative reviews. The tent was comfortable and clean although the bedding was not warm enough for the cold nights we experienced. The power was off for maintenance on one of the days but we had warning so spent the day exploring. The only problem was that it took some time for the water to be restored. Food in the bistro was nice and the staff were very friendly. Some parts of the resort are looking tired but the location is amazing.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ikara Safari Camp. This was our first time Glamping and it didn't disappointment. Our Glamping tent included a King sized bed, bar fridge, toilet and shower with piping hot water! The views were spectacular!
We'll definitely be back!

We arrived on a small group coach tour just on dark. The "glamping" tents were a long walk away from reception down a dark unlit track beyond the camp grounds. There was no service available to take our luggage or ourselves to our tents. They flat our refused to help - no apologies. When we finally arrived at the tents, they were insecure some with zip closures not working. No torches provided. Some of our group were able to relocate to Resort rooms. For others, it was a 20 minute walk in the dark from the tents to the dining area. Not designed for anyone other than visitors with their own vehicles. Resort rooms were comfortable but ours was quite run down and not cleaned to a satisfactory level.

While the tent itself was nice/adequate there was a lot of not so good facilities. There was no barbecue near the safari ground meaning if not prepared with camping cooking facilities- given that we were Glamping stupidly assumed access to barbecue or camp kitchen facilities - all food had to be purchased and consumed at the resort whose menu was limited and prices inflated. My husband ordered a chicken schnitzel which had a smell and tasted off. When we brought this to restaurant staff attention the response was 'I will let the chef know'. We heard nothing else. No apology and no offer to replace the meal. ||The pool at the resort was full of green algae and could not be used. The information document provided was inaccurate and did not advise of changes to scheduled activities. As a result we missed the Welcome to country which was advertsied as 6pm but rescheduled to 4.30pm?||On checkout we were met by a very unhelpful and condescending young man who thought overcharging for our accommodation was a good idea. He would not listen to reason and was unable to read the terms and conditions of our booking. It was his opinion that Travel Auctions made the terms not him and we could tske it upwith then. The confusion seemed to relate to the fact that we had upgraded our accommodation and stayed one additional night causing an mathematical dilema beyond his level of comprehension. After 45 minutes we received no satisfaction and were forced to pay an extra $55 . I did however contact Travel Auctions who then contacted Wilpena Pound who have since acknowledged their error and are refunding overcharged fees. Hence 2 stars.
