Great food, great service, we sat out the back because it was too cold inside. The trains went through roughly every 5 minutes and were loud, not too annoying for us but a word of caution for others..

Went to the hunter river hotel today, first time since the renovations. It looks lovely, I very much enjoyed my fish and chips. My colleague on the other hand has certain allergies, she ordered the Eddy burger without cheese and pesto on a gluten free bun for $27. Unfortunately they were out of gluten free buns and offered a $2 refund for the bun. She was offered a deconstructed burger and this is what she got for $25. I think this is terrible value.

Our favourite pub for dinner. Great sized, great tasting meals and the side salad is delicious.
The bistro starts taking orders at 5:30pm. I’d suggest reserving a table well ahead of time if you want sit inside on a Saturday night. It’s gets pretty busy.
The only criticism is the lady at the bistro counter isn’t friendly; she rarely smiles at customers and in the many times we have been there I haven’t seen her display good manners once!
Meals never take too long from the kitchen and the waitresses are polite and attentive - this is why I give 5 stars for service.

I ordered the fish chips and salad… the only thing that had any taste was the salad.
Fish was tasteless so oily and the chips were the same…
I ordered the chicken wing things with bbq sauce and they were just ok .
I had ordered the steak the last time and should have ordered that again as that great well cooked.
I friend had also ordered the fish chips and salad and his was the same..!

WOW, the absolute worst experience ever at any pub! Rude service - two dark haired women clearly not enjoying their job. Kids without manners running around everywhere, screaming, yelling & weaving in-between tables unsupervised! We arrived at 4:30pm & told no inside tables were available. We sat outside & spent over $250 on very basic meals & drinks. We ordered at 5:30pm and had to wait over 40mins for our meals to arrive. Terrible meals! Service didn’t exist - absolute zero hospitality! The worst pub experience ever - we won’t be back & recommend you avoid this place!

Thought we would try the HR haven't been here in years. The renovations are beautiful, staff friendly.
Unfortunately it was prime time to mow the lawn outside near the playground so that was great at 12 o'clock (lunch time). The meat on my husbands burger was raw, they offered to remake which we declined.
Never again.
