A great stopover. A proper Aussie pub experience. We had a very nice chicken Parmy. Perfect place to stop with your dogs as there is a beer garden and it backs onto a large oval. Country hospitality. We will be back!

Good food and cold drinks. . New owners, place is looking very sterile but fresh, looks more like a restaurant then a pub, not much to keep me going back. No pool table, dart board, pokies.

Wow!! What a find this place was. We stopped here as the google rating was high and we weren't disappointed! It may look like a small country hotel however the food would rival the best restaurants in Melbourne! The chicken Parma was so moist and tasty and the home made rissoles were off the charts! The service was fantastic and they even made our dog feel welcome with her own meat and bones. We will definitely be back and recommending this place to other travelers of the Hume Hwy.

The pub itself is a bit of a dive, and it was 40 degrees C outside. We were hoping for a cool-off and were disappointed. But the three stars are for the food! Great home-made pub grub, rissoles mash and veggies cooked just right, and the lamb cutlets were good too 🙂

This hotel is a little gem on its own indeed! Staff and management looked after us in the most proactive way imaginable. Providing the best unbiased advice on local points of interest, offered artful conversation, free drinks (maybe they liked us and this is totally up to their courtesy if they do so) and the manager even went to the kitchen to prepare his secret sauce for the legendary lamb burger just for us! We felt part of the family and spend one of the most pleasant evening playing the best games of pool. We recommend the lamb shanks and the legendary lamb burger. We hope places like the Horse and Jokey to remain active in Australia for a long long time.

So disappointing. Stopped here for lunch on our roadtrip after looking at Google reviews (rating 4.3 with 30+ reviews). Food was slow, despite us being the only customers. We ordered the rissoles and vegetarian nachos. The rissole was barely cooked in the middle, the nachos a couple of dollops of tinned food on a bed of corn chips.
Many country pubs we've visited in NSW and Victoria are a revelation, with food and atmosphere that make one want to return. Sadly this was not one of them.
