ATTENTION all brides, grooms or anyone celebrating special events in Byron Bay. We had this venue booked for 8 months in advance and 9 weeks before our wedding, they terminated the booking for both accomodation (16 pax) and our post wedding day event. They had told us they had a change in the DA for events which was a complete lie - we spoke to the council and got it both in writing and over the phone that they could host events for up to 150 pax.

Upon discussion with other locals, this is not the first time which the owner has cancelled without cause. In the contract, he has a single term which states he can terminate at any time.

We've been informed this is not the first time this happened, with other poor couples and families having their events and accomodation here cancelled at 1 or 2 weeks notice.

If I can urge anyone not to book this overpriced property and to seriously listen to this review I hope you don't end up in our situation - no one wants this kind of stress before the big day!

Campbell & I celebrated our wedding at Hinterland House in May & stayed 3 nights.

Firstly, the property - it is so beautifully maintained and simply stunning! We had both families stay and all of our guests were in complete awe.

Steph and Sam were unbelievably accommodating, not only are they kind and caring but their service is outstanding and made sure we were always comfortable.

It was a beautiful weekend at Hinterland House, the photos and memories will last a lifetime. We cannot recommend Hinterland House enough and look forward to staying again on our first wedding anniversary!

My partner and I celebrated our wedding at Hinterland House this month and stayed for 3 nights with both our families. We could not recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we first saw it, we knew it would be perfect for accomodating our big family, with rooms, ensuites and private sitting areas for all adults and living areas for the kids have slumber parties in. There was plenty of room for all to come together and get away for privacy whenever needed. The furnishings are all stunning, the beds super comfortable and the kitchen fully stocked with everything you’d need to host a big group or event (including heaps of glassware, plates, cooking utensils and things like wine buckets and serving platters). Watching the kids explore the grounds and adventure through each and every door of the house was a dream. I knew the pool would make them happy but the entire place seemed like a wonderland to them. It was perfect, kids safe and happy and parents totally relaxed. On our last day everyone was talking about returning for a family holiday and we absolutely can not wait!

The property managers, Stef and Sam, were not only a delight to talk to but made sure everything we needed was sorted. I’m so grateful for their help and kindness. If you’re considering this property for a wedding or a holiday you will not be disappointed!

My husband and I recently got married at Hinterland House and couldn't have enjoyed our stay more at this property!!

Having never viewed the property prior to booking, my husband and I, along with every one of our guests were absolutely blown away with the property! Immaculately kept, beautifully designed and maintained, on a macadamia plantation, and breathtaking from every angle.

A truly stunning property!!

The onsite manager and booking agent were a dream as well, so accommodating and helpful with nothing being too much trouble.

We had an amazing weekend at Hinterland House and can assure you it will not be our last time staying at this property. We highly recommend to anyone considering staying at Hinterland House!

Like everyone planning a wedding, we had high hopes when we booked Hinterland House as the venue for our wedding weekend - from the moment we saw it, we loved the massive verandah, gorgeous pool and beautifully maintained gardens. What we actually got was so much better than we could've even imagined.

The house has recently undergone a full reno & style refresh, and it just takes the house to a whole new level. Every room has its own personality, with incredible furniture and bespoke little touches (the bathrooms are INCREDIBLE!) and common areas that are spacious and immaculately styled. There were 16 of us staying at the house, and we loved that there were so many different areas for us to congregate for meals or just to relax, both inside and on the back deck.

I would 100% use any excuse to stay at Hinterland House (and hopefully we'll be able to in the future!) but for us as a wedding venue it really excelled. Our bridal parties and families could all stay with us at the house for the whole weekend, and we managed to squeeze in a welcome drinks/pool party before the big day as well, which was the best way to kick off the weekend. Plus toasting marshmallows on the fire pit in the evenings was a highlight! All our guests were absolutely blown away by the property, and its natural beauty meant we could set up relatively simple ceremony, cocktail and reception spaces that still looked stunning.

The team on the ground, Stef and Sam, were a total delight to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble, and they helped us out in so many ways big and small and were just so friendly and accomodating. I know this is an essay of a review, but honestly just do yourself a favour and stay here, we loved it so much and can't imagine anyone not.

We recently stayed at hinterland house with 12 of our friends and family for our wedding weekend.

It was the most amazing experience! We hosted our intimate wedding at hinterland house and the venue was jaw dropping! The most spectacular venue for an intimate wedding.

The house itself is phenomenal! We never wanted to leave! Every inch of the home is thoughtfully designed and styled. Each space was comfortable, cosy and peaceful. The house was so clean and every pillow was fluffed and everything was perfect for our arrival, so much attention to detail was made. Even with 14 people staying there, we each had plenty of space to relax. The wrap around deck was a favourite of mine. The new interior styling brings a modern feel to the heritage home perfectly. I fell in love with so many pieces of furniture that Stef gave me the details of the stylist, Bisque interiors and I will definitely be purchasing something for my home!

Stef and Sam where both so lovely and easy to communicate with. Sam made our stay so lovely by helping with any small things we needed and helping to prepare the property for our wedding.

Our guests where blown away by how beautiful the property is. We held our ceremony on the side lawn with the spectacular backdrop of the lead light windows and vines. No need for any ceremony flowers or decorations, the backdrop is stunning. We where able to have all our wedding photos on the grounds in the gorgeous macadamia orchard and palm lined drive. This was a huge bonus for us as we didn’t want to leave our guests for a long time. We then moved our guests to the back deck for our reception with the amazing backdrop of the mountains and the pool. It was great to be able to stay before and after the wedding to really soak it all in!

The property is flawless! We will definitely be back to enjoy the property again! Summer or winter it would be divine!

We consider ourselves so fortunate to have stayed with our entire extended family at Hinterland House for our 20th anniversary. We rented the house in its entirety which meant it was large enough for 21 of us and yet extremely comfortable and very spacious. From kids to our older parents, everyone loved it. The house itself is stunning. Beds were super comfortable and the property as a whole - with the outdoor deck, fabulous pool and stunning hinterland views - made for a wonderful stay. We all still talk about returning to stay again!

Had the most magical stay for our small elopement last weekend. The house is absolutely breathtaking along with the picturesque views which not only made for some amazing photography but a wonderful stay. The groundskeeper/manager was only ever a phone call away and was very welcoming upon arrival. Would highly recommended to anyone for any occasion.
