Really enjoyed our quirky but cosy night staying in a converted rail carriage. |Outside temps hit zero but we were good and toasty inside. Comfy bed and a good size bathroom. |No internal cooking facilities so cater accordingly and we'd also suggest you arrive before dark and save your hosts the hassle of guiding you to the accommodation in the dark.

We visited with 2 other families (11 in total) and were pleased that it ticked all the boxes for us. The accommodation is unique with the converted train carriages which were perfect for the couples & my eldest son. We also rented the miners cottage which has a small kitchen & lounge area so this and the area in front was our breakfast hub. There’s a BBQ & common area right next to both this and it was perfect for our Sunday night football grand final gathering. Couldn’t believe we had the place to ourselves. But it’s the setting that makes this place....lots of huge shady trees & kangaroos & other wildlife morning & night and the 5 min walk into town with Kerri as a wonderful host (& very reasonable room rates!) made us talk of when we can come back. I found the beds a little firm so that’s the only thing I would change but some like it that way. Definitely recommend for families & groups.

We had been down in the Aussie High Country enjoying dirt tracks and sights with the BMW GS Safari. We left Thredbo Saturday morning and after a challenging ride through the Brindabella we made Bathurst that night.|Up Sunday morning for the Bathurst Black Dog Ride and then we headed off for the challenge of the Bridle Track, following the Turon River for some more spectacular scenery. |The last 13 challenging kms up hill, led to the dawning of knowledge as to why Hill End is named that (perhaps)...|What a pleasant end to the day to arrive at The Ranch, which we had booked earlier in the month. It’s an uncomplicated layout and a very helpful and pleasant mine host. |Our rooms were housed in old American tourer platform end ex NSWGR carriages, which were well appointed and with an ensuite. The ‘room’ was very spacious and the the platform ends have been extended to provide ample room to sit and enjoy a brew in the Bush surrounds - relaxingly excellent!|Before departure we had an great breakfast and conversation (banter) with the friendly owner. |Could have easily stayed longer. Beautiful respite and great service. Thank you, thank you!

Great and peaceful location. The host was very helpful and nothing was too much for her. The train carriage we stayed in was clean and had everything you need in a small country town. Hopefully will be back there one day.

Clean, comfy and quiet. We arrived on a very hot day and Kerri had the air conditioning on already in the room so it was cool. She is very welcoming and full of useful information about the town and local attractions. Well worth the trip.

We've just returned from our 4th or 5th stay here and loved it! A wonderful place for a down to earth, peaceful and clean air holiday. Loads of space for the kids to run around, gorgeous restored train carriages for the adults to stay in and bunk rooms for the kids. Kangaroos at every turn, both at the Ranch and throughout the town - day and night, and if you don't hassle them they're very well behaved. Hill End is steeped in gold mining history and a wonderful place to wander, discover and soak up the clean country air. Kerri is available for advice, but otherwise you're left to your own devices - just the way we like it.

Kerri & her crew are great at looking after big groups & they put together a mean breakfast. Our trail bike club DSMRA stay here every year & are never dissapointed. They easily cater for our group of 30 riders & support crew. Clean & simple is all we ask for & The Ranch has it.

Perfect location to get away too, Friendly welcoming owners and Town. We stayed in the "Station House" fantastic room, plenty of space and great comfy bed!. So much sites too see in the town and around the town! Most enjoyable weekend we have ever had away, Cant wait to get back there!
