We had a fantastic weekend with Angus and his team from haul. Angus is passionate about his craft and getting people to enjoy and understand the many aspects of fly fishing. We were fortunate to join him on a women's fly fishing retreat. The skill and knowledge of the guides was so helpful and they were so willing to impart their wisdom to us so that we had the best chance of success. We had a wet day casting from the bank on Saturday but we still had a brilliant day and on the sunday we drifted down the Tumut River and enjoyed the scenery, company and most of all the fishing. I caught a small but beautiful rainbow trout which was the icing on the cake. I had no expectation of catching a fish but mainly wanted to improve my skills and independence as a fly fisher. Angus is a passionate advocate for encouraging women into fly fishing and he is an all round good bloke. I can highly recommend him for a day on the fly.

We had an fantastic time on the water with Sam! Approachable right from the beginning and an insane wealth of knowledge about Tumut, trout, and the water. He was beyond patient and happy to guide us, as beginners, through our half day of fishing, and helped us replace snagged flies along the way without hesitation. We caught a trout each before the day ended. Exceptional experience. Thanks Sam!

Did a full day float in January. Whether you fly fish or not, the perspective Angus gives you on the river is an experience that enthralled the mind. I’d fished the Tumut before but never in a boat. The rafts are beyond stable you have such solid footing the entire trip, Angus is master waterman with international experience and his abilities exceed his already shining reputation.

I had the pleasure of doing a full day with Gus, alongside my wife and two other friends of ours, on two drift boats. We all had an absolute ball. The guiding was fantastic, the river was beautiful, and caught dozens of trout. Would highly recommend Haul Fly Fishing!

We had honestly the most magic day out on the Tumut River with Haul Fly Fish. It was the best guided experience I’ve ever done. Expected to have a gorgeous day out which we absolutely did but didn’t expect to catch - and very carefully release - 15 rainbow trout! Nearly 60 between us all. My husband has run out and bought a fly fishing kit already, thinks he pro after one day out with Gus! An incredible teacher, such a magic setting, could not recommend more!

This November I participated in the women's fly fishing course in Tumut with Angus, April and Josh. My boyfriend encouraged me to come along, and I was a little apprehensive beforehand and not sure how I would go. However, the two days were simply brilliant: the three guides were all so experienced, patient and helpful that it demystified the art of fly fishing. Having an appreciation of the theory and techniques provided a framework to then experiment with preparing my tackle, casting, and fishing from the river or a drift boat. The boat trip down the beautiful Tumut River was the highlight for me and I was delighted to catch three trout! I also enjoyed the camaraderie of the group, the guides anticipating our needs and their great sense of humour.
