Phenomenal cave tour and incredible formations in the caves. Great to see the dedication to preserving the caves and education about them. It would be great to see more education about the Australian Aboriginal history included in the tour education and the Aboriginal name of the land it is situated on to pay respects to our First Nations people. Really loved the information on how the cave was later discovered by tree fellers. The passion of our guide was evident, she was excellent. This tour is suitable for med-high exercise levels and slightly strenuous but doable if you can walk up and down steps. There are some tight squeezes in regard to the width of the pathways so some dexterity and ability to bend and manouvre is required. It was a lot of fun! I would say some people with disabilities could certainly do the cave walk with assistance, depending on their physical ability etc. It is not accessible for walking aides and wheelchairs however. Great tour, stunning. The forest around the caves are BEAUTIFUL! Highly recommend the little forest walk & thermal hot springs (bring your swimmers!). Thanks for a great experience in May 2024, it was a highlight of our trip ?

Absolutely loved the experience. Everyone enjoyed the guided tour in to the cave. Short boardwalk to the entrace of the cave from the second car park.
Spacious picnic area with naturally heated pool, BBQ area and restrooms.
Small cafe at the visitors centre - orders can take time.
Platypus walk and the Thermal spring walks are easy board walks.
Hardly any reception, but has free wifi at the visitors centre.

We visited the Hastings Caves as part of a day bus tour from Hobart.
Our stop was 2 hours, so we skipped the Hot Springs, and went straight to the Caves.
The Caves Tour was guided, we had an experienced person who shared facts and history.
Take a good camera (fast aperture lens), no flash allowed.
Need non-slippery shoes and a jacket for the caves (temperature 9 degrees all year round).
Yes, well worthwhile and recommended.

Hastings Cave is a hidden gem! The stunning underground formations and the peaceful surroundings make for a fantastic day trip. The guided tour was informative and engaging, and the thermal pool is a perfect way to relax afterward. Friendly staff and breathtaking scenery – highly recommend visiting!

I loved this cave, the guided tours are amazing with detailed information provided and enough time to see the cave in depth.
You are asked not to touch anything as it can damage or interfere with the development of the ecosystem.
Temperature inside the cave is 9 degrees all year round, so take a jacket!
There are 500 steps inside but I didn’t find it tiring or hard to achieve as you stop many times!
The hot springs are not hot, if anything they are warm. Probably great in summer or warmer weather but not enjoyable in winter/spring if you’re getting in with the idea of swimming in hot water!

Incredible experience. A must do if you visit Hobart. Cave tour guide by Erika (folk musician Blloom) was amazing! Bring bathing gear (swimming togs). The natural hot springs pool is a lovely inclusion. Water is naturally warm and sparkling clean. Spend a minimum of 2 hours, I did most of it over 3.5.

My partner and I loved our time at the Hastings Caves, people are very welcoming and friendly, our guide was really nice. Then we had a great relaxing time at the pool where we saw 2 cute Quokkas and had the hot springs and platypus walks. We couldn’t spot the Platypus but you need to be lucky to spot these shy guys.

The biggest dolomite cave in Aus. It's really beautiful. Good length tour and very informative.
The cafe at the visitors centre only has some drinks, toasted sandwiches and some sweet baked goods which are tasty, just bring lunch if you want something more.
The pool is literally a pool, not springs. The walks are lovely.
It's a further 20mins down road to the cave after you get tickets, so make sure you come early. You also walk 5 minutes into the bush after you park.
