Spent a night here, en route to Queensland. Rooms were clean & well equipped. Excellent food & service. Restaurant is closed, so food is ordered at the bar & served in a small dining area. Not a lot of people in the main bar for a Friday night. We enjoyed our stay

Some business colleagues and I stopped in for lunch. We each had a different burger. Service was really good and friendly. Place was warm and inviting. A real charm to it. The food was great and the burgers were worth the coin. My corn fritter burger was very unique and flavourful... Never had anything like it.

Extremely poor service / food was lovely/ no apologies for the delayed service even though we there only 4 of us in the restaurant. |We understand mistakes happen but the staff we not interested in recovery. |Then after finishing our meal we sat there for at least 30 mins waiting for our plates to be cleared. It did not happen.

We didn’t have either of the problems Cricket Toad mentioned: we could open the alternate entrance, and the shower was fine. It isn’t obvious how to lock the room when you leave: you have to press the button on the inside handle while the door is open. You can’t lock the door with the key, only unlock it.

Look, if you're looking for a cheap place to sleep while on a road trip, this is your place. If you're willing to spend a bit more, I wouldn't recommend here. I was there a week ago and went for a twin share room which was nice but:
The door going outside didn't lock, so pretty easy for people to enter;
The keys wouldn't unlock the front door to the building, making it inaccessible when the bar was closed;
The shared bathroom wasn't too nice, being plagued with critters and faulty showers.

I think a 3 is generous but given the price I feel it's fair.

I have booked GH twice now. My room was clean and tidy both times. My first time a had my own bathroom which was great. The second time I had to use shared which was fine and clean enough however, the shower heads need descaling or replacing.

Good variety of tap beer, friendly staff and the food is always great!!

So I just happened to stop in at Gunnedah Hotel. Well OMG I just think I had the best eye fillet I have had in months. It's not just the food it's the whole package. The staff are great. Friendly professional and a can help attitude. The rooms are nice and clean. For all you traveller's and caravaners. Stop driving past and drive in.
