I had the opportunity to stay at Groote Eylandt Lodge while traveling for work, and it was an unforgettable experience. The resort offers a perfect blend of comfort, natural beauty, and warm hospitality.

Where do I start?
The Groote Eylandt Lodge is amazing! I was lucky enough to travel there for work several times and was always greeted with a friendly warm welcome 🙂
The location is perfect, sunsets on the deck and by the pool just never gets old.

The staff from the cleaners, the reception, the bar, the kitchen and the managers were all lovely and so accommodating. My laptop charger broke and one of the staff gifted me one of his old ones (to keep!) I still use it today.

The food is always delicious - I highly recommend the prawn tacos, totally worth the dollars.

The rooms are a little older but they are always clean and tidy and have everything you need in them.

We just spent a fabulous 4 nights at Groote Eylandt lodge. The room/cabin overlooked the water beautiful sunsets from our balcony, so private and quiet. The lodge facilities were 5 star, great food, breakfast, lunch and dinner from the restaurant/bar. With expansive decked outdoor areas; a great spot to eat, drink and all enjoy the sunset.||Gihan the Manager guided us on a cultural tour of the island. Indigenous cave paintings, up close, off the tourist trail, just the 2 of us, very beautiful and isolated, a once in a lifetime opportunity to view this outstanding art. Morning tea beside a creek, pristine, just us again. Included also was a drive through some of the island’s communities . Such a beautiful place. Gihan’s knowledge of the island and the communities was extensive and his passion for protection of the environment was more than evident. ||What a beautiful part of this magnificent country we live in.

Great facilities, location is hard to beat. The food and service are good, but not the cheapest on the island. But a pretty good place for a drink on the deck to watch the sunset.

Stayed for 5 days fishing with a friend. Staff are all excellent as are rooms. Standout food in the restaurant, large ( too large perhaps) servings. Something for everyone. Jonno our fishing guide was great and we saw awesome wildlife as well, dolphins , hammerhead shark and feeding sea eagle. Victor in the restaurant is great but so are all the staff, nothing too much trouble. Great pool. Highly recommend

Fantastic rooms which include spa baths with amazing views. Nice restaurant with lovely staff and great fresh food. Relaxing, quiet environment for the whole family. We all enjoyed our lovely town tour with Jon, fascinating to see the island and artwork.

What an AWESOME experience including the fishing, accommodation, restaurant, hospitality and the remote location. Our visit was to target the diverse range of tropical fish on offer…and we were not disappointed. We spent four days fishing with guide Jon Eddy, who helped us tick off a number of personal bests as well as show us the majestic archipelago that is the Groote Eylandt region. West Wind was the perfect vessel to help us safely and comfortably fish these waters. Jono spared no effort and provided expert guidance on gear, rigs and techniques as we targeted the range of fish on offer. In our short trip, we managed to tick off 17 different species. We also came away much wiser with Jon having shared his knowledge on the islands, the culture and the local mining operations. At the end of a big days fishing, it was fantastic to return to the Groote Eylandt Lodge to enjoy a cold drink and savour the magnificent cuisine prepared by expert chefs. Even better knowing the fish on the plate was our prized catch from the days fishing. The accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Lastly, the hospitality of the lodge manager and all the staff is a real credit to this operation. If you want 5 star fishing experience, this is the place to visit.
