What an amazing place! Entrance is $5 and there was this at which looks like painting, only to realise that they are done from Merino wool ( the level of detail achieved with this material is unbelievable) which is a highlight. Very inspiring and lots of history from the surrounding areas. You will see anything from old type writer to coins of different countries and a lot more. A must visit when in the area!

Most museums have interesting historical items but the Green Gunyah Museum has something absolutely unique - the natural wool art created by Doris Golder. Photos are not allowed, but a booklet is available showing all the portraits of some famous Australians as well as animals and landscapes. How Doris Golder could create these masterpieces using natural wool fibres is just incredible. But there are lots of other historical items to make this an incredible place to visit.

Every second weekend in October the Spirit of the Land Festival hosts Australia's only National Farm Sculpture Awards for Art created from recycled metal farm materials. The Festival took shape during the worst drought in Lockhart's recorded history. The Festival came about when a local farmer financially and emotionally devastated by the drought began creating art from rusty balls of barb wire fencing. Attracting buyers from the city the family were able to save their farm. The Spirit of The Land Fedtival had proven to be a outstanding success reviving community spirit and putting Lockhart on the tourist map. Some examples of the 2017 sculptures.

The Greens Gunyah museum is certainly worth a look. Entry is only $5 and it also serves as an information center for the Riverina. Some beautiful artwork, mostly portraits and some very interesting and historic artifacts. When we finished I was left wondering how I would have handled life all those years ago. A very enjoyable visit.
