During my study abroad in Cairns, I went scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef during my breaks from studying. Certified divers can prepare their own gear and dive at a lower cost. Since the oxygen tank felt heavy for me, I opted for an introductory dive but was still able to go deeper alongside certified divers. Playing with bubble rings 🫧 was so much fun, and the friendly staff took plenty of underwater photos for us. It truly is a wonderful and welcoming place!

We travelled on Reef Encounter and had the time of our lives! a 3 day /2 night trip and we felt like we had been away for over a week! Sensational Crew who were so attentive. The room was bigger than expected and the food excelled our expectations! We didnt get time to use the hot tub because we enjoyed the water sessions so much. Make sure you have a cocktail on the sundeck at sunset - just stunning! We will definitely be going again - and again I hope ..

This might have been the best thing I’ve done in my whole Australia trip!
I’ve been on the Reef Encounter for completing my SSI Open Water Diver. I had done the theory upfront on the SSI App, so inly the practice was done here. Especially if you only have limited time, you don’t want to spend it on sitting in a classroom.
In difference to most other Scuba schools, you have no pool sessions, all the training is done just at the beautiful Great Barrier Reef. Depending on weather conditions, this might be a bit bumpy, but at least you get used to “real” diving really quick.
The crew on the boat is just amazing. (The slogan “Best crew on the reef” just fits perfectly) They are really helping you to get the best out of your time. At this point, a big thanks to my instructors Neena and Juliana, you are great! 🙂
There is also a photographer onboard, who can really make some great shots of you underwater!
There are many different dive sessions, I would really recommend everyone to do the 6:30 dive in the morning and the night dive in the evening (You will see heaps of sharks!). If you are not going on Nitox you can do up to 4 dives a day, use the other slots for snorkeling!
The rooms are nice and the food is tasty, only sad thing, you cant control the aircon and it gets really cold sometimes.
But the OWD course was so great, that I came back for a nother night!

We booked an overnight stay at the Reef Encounter and can only recommend it. Awesome crew, delicious food and last but not least stunning nature.
I dive unfortunately rarely and have been a bit tense after two years since my last dive but Tasha did an outstanding job making me feel comfortable again.

Excellent service !! Staffs were so courteous and helpful. Booked the dive trip, went out and had a great time. Apparently there was a glitch on the billing, went back to the office and Amy got it resolved with no time. Thank you Stacy and Amy ❤️❤️❤️
