Meeting Point is at the Fullerton Hotel, 1 Martin Place, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺
This is a wonderful tour giving you a comprehensive history of the former Sydney General Post Office (GPO). It’s a FREE tour which is great. The tour takes 90 minutes and there’s a a bit of walking involved, around 2,500 steps. Note that the tour does not include access to the clock tower. You get a up close look at this beautiful building was completed in two stages. Building started in 1866 and the first stage was opened on September 1, 1874. In 1891, the clock tower was completed. Today the Fullerton Hotel occupies the former GPO. The Beauty of the building still shows though. Our guide Vickie was fantastic, so knowledgeable and helpful and patient. She had no problem answering all our questions. We were a big group so we didn’t get to see everything on offer I think but I still really enjoyed it.
I would definitely recommend people taking this tour. A BIG Thumbs Up! 👍😊👍😊

It was an very informative tour guided by Vickie, who was passionate and experienced. We walked around the whole building and were told the history and meaning of it and the sculptures. And then we went from the 6th floor to the basement inside the hotel (ex-GPO). It took about 100mins at the end. A little bit longer than expected and not much chance to have a seat. All in all, it was a great tour.

I found out about this tour because I was staying at the Fullerton and they offer this as a hotel experience, though this free tour is open to the public too (certain timings).

We were guided by Sofi, who was very knowledgeable. One wouldn’t have known about the history and heritage of this Sydney icon just walking by. She also brought us to parts of the hotel that aren’t open to the public and her commentary was captivating, funny and highly informative; perfect for a history buff like myself. Took exactly 1.5 hours as stated and the 5 of us on the tour had a splendid time.

Fantastic tour , thoroughly recommend it, my gratitude goes out to Vicki, who was not only a wonderful tour guide, but explained everything so beautifully. Having lived in Sydney all my life I had no idea of the history of the old GPO building which is now known as The Fullerton Hotel.
Vicki enlightened all of us on the tour, with her intriguing facts and extensive knowledge.
Definitely will return with friends to do another tour soon, it was interesting, fascinating and informative.
One of the best tours I have been on in a long time. Thank you
