We went to this winery to celebrate my birthday with my family . We were treated to a fabulous time. Jon shared his knowledge of the area and wines. We paired our tasting with a cheese platter , pumpkin soup and sausages. We ended our wine tasting with dark chocolate and port. This was not just a wine tasting but a farm experience we got to meet his lovely cows and the infamous bull Barry . We got to feed them which delighted my whole family. Jon’s generosity didn’t stop there he took us around the farm to the river and then gave us some clippers to take home some lovely fruit. Thanks Jon and Kate a trip we will never forget !!

Gloucester River Wines is a must-visit destination! Just be sure to call ahead before stopping by. John was an incredibly warm and friendly host who went above and beyond our expectations. He served us a delicious lunch and then gave us a tour of the farm, where we met the cows and dipped our feet in the river. The wines were also amazing! As a generous touch, he even let us pick fresh limes, chilies, and paprika for free. If you're ever passing through Gloucester, I highly recommend checking this place out!

We spontaneously paid a visit to Gloucester RIver Winery, and Jon was so accommodating and welcoming straight away. He was very generous with the delicious wines, and Kate made a fantastic platter for lunch. After the wine tasting, Jon showed us around the farm - he picked us some chillies, limes and thyme to take home, and we met Barry the Bull! By far the best winery tasting we have been to. Visiting John's winery and farm was an unforgettable experience. The Verdelha from his wine collection is exceptional, and the cheese board is very generous and pairs wonderfully with the wine. What made it truly special was sitting together, sharing stories, and connecting on a deeper level. From exploring the farmhouse, river, and camping area to meeting his friendly cows, every moment was warm and welcoming. The most amazing experience, literally was the best day of my life! So much more than just a wine-tasting, we got to explore the farm and feed the cows too! John and Kate are the most amazing hosts, can’t recommend them enough!

We were fortunate enough to visit John’s stunning vineyard on Christmas Eve; it was an experience to remember. John welcomed us warmly and guided us through an exceptional selection of his wines, accompanied by a beautifully prepared charcuterie board. His deep knowledge of the winemaking process, fascinating local stories, and genuine passion for what he does made the visit truly special.

The highlight was a tour around the vineyard in the back of his open-air truck, where we soaked in the breathtaking scenery and met the charming animals on the property, including cows and llamas. The wines were outstanding—we couldn’t leave without picking up bottles of his exceptional Semillon, Shiraz, and a few others which were enjoyed over the festive period.

John’s hospitality and expertise made this visit unforgettable. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely wine tasting which turned into an unexpected but awesome farm tour!

Called in here with my wife without a booking and had the most wonderful, fun afternoon. The host John, and his wife Kate are amazing. John kept us all entertained (small group were already there) and it is clear that he knows his stuff and enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for wine with the groups he entertains. Entertain is the most perfect word for John too. His enthusiasm, motivation and general sense of fun is infectious. Kate made us some delicious food to accompany the wine - all home made. We did everything from taste wine, hear about how John is also a Uni lecturer to riding around the estate on a grand tour on his Polaris 4x4 and even feeding the cows. It was absolutely brilliant and very very good value for money. If you are in the area and fancy an unstuffy vineyard experience then make sure you head over to Gloucester River Wines, you won’t regret it. Thanks John.
