What a place, what a team, what an adventure, truly an experience of a lifetime! I am so grateful to these legends showing me the untouched beauty of the Franklin River while teaching me of the flora and history, feeding me like royalty and providing as much comfort as a remote wilderness adventure could possibly pack in. Highly recommend the trip and the company whole heartedly!

Where to start? Trip of a lifetime's not a bad spot!

I've just finished a trip with 9 mates and it was genuine sensational.

Here's why:
1. The Environment
Impossible for my limited words to do it justice, I'll try though. You're surrounded by ancient, raw, untouched majesty that's in a constant parallel state of destruction and re-growth. The forces and beauty at play here need to be experienced to be believed. As one of my friends noted on about Day 3 "this place is too wild for the wildlife."

2. The Franklin River Rafting Crew
Elias, Grace and Jared were simply cool. Down to earth, no fuss, extremely capable and methodical legends. Circumstances, task, whatever - nothing phased them. It's a tightly run show by great people who inspire confidence.

3. The Food!!!
Food was almost made #1 in this list. No freeze-dried baloney here! From properly brewed morning coffee through to curries and even steak for dinner we were shocked at both the quality of the fare and diversity of the menu. It's hard to comprehend how the FRR team spend the day getting you down the river and are then able to pull together what I'll describe as remote-5 Star eating. Out of this world.

4. Safety
In remote, rugged and potentially dangerous environs it's a must. Every step/paddle of the way was guided by the team to ensure risks were minimised/mitigated and maximum enjoyment attained.

I could go on; however, I reckon the best thing you can do is go and check it out for yourself.

If remote (yet surprisingly convenient to get to) outdoor adventures are your thing, there is ZERO chance of disappointment making a trip down this iconic River with Franklin River Rafting (you might even end up writing a review like this one).

Maybe time to stop reading and start booking!

Wow amazing experience. Elias and Dave and Sean are amazing guides. The food is exceptional. The scenery is stunning. It’s a non stop adventure from top to bottom as the river changes phases and stories. It’s cold so rug up well but don’t delay, just do it. You will be very glad you did. Could not ask for a better tour company.

If you're looking for an experience that will challenge, inspire, and push you beyond your limits while celebrating the power of teamwork and leadership, a rafting trip on the Franklin River with Elias and his team is the perfect adventure. From the moment you set foot in the raft, you're immersed in nature's raw beauty, facing exhilarating rapids and serene, untouched wilderness.

What stands out most about this trip is how it transforms not just your perspective of the outdoors but also your sense of self. Elias is a phenomenal leader, combining his expert knowledge of the river with a calm, encouraging presence. He and his team provide a safe, structured environment that allows you to test your boundaries, whether you're a first-time rafter or an experienced adventurer. The trip fosters personal growth, but it also reinforces the importance of teamwork—navigating the rapids successfully requires coordination, communication, and trust. And yes, the food is awesome!

Every challenge on the Franklin River feels like a metaphor for leadership, where making decisions under pressure, staying resilient, and supporting each other is key. And through it all, you're well looked after. Elias and his team anticipate every need, ensuring safety and comfort without ever compromising the authentic, wild experience. The balance of adrenaline and serenity, of challenge and care, makes this journey one of a kind. This is more than just a rafting trip—it's an unforgettable life lesson in courage, leadership, and the strength of community.

We did this trip in January with guides Leon, Sam and Grace. It's hard to do justice in a post - it was an incredible experience. There were so many moments floating down the pristine, remote wilderness areas that I felt so overwhelmingly happy and grateful to be doing the trip. The guides were fantastic - so nimble and talented at getting the boats through tricky situations and then having the energy to cook delicious meals and look after us so well. The equipment was top notch - the waterproof bags, the sleeping mat and the waterproof sleeping bag thing that goes over the sleeping bag. It was challenging, it felt adventurous but that was part of the fun. We had a lovely group ranging in age from 20s to almost retirement all just loving the experience. I had been worried that I may not enjoy the roughing it sleeping on the side of the river but I loved it. The last night we had the option of a cabin a few hundred metres away and not one person took that option up. If you are undecided and reasonably fit just do it!! Franklin River Rafting is a small specialised family run company - the husband and wife team are both experienced river guides themselves. Highly recommended!

What an awesome experience! I highly recommend Elias and the Franklin River Rafting crew of Mitch, Grace and Jarryd who expertly looked after us and guided us down the Franklin. Their competence and care for us was first class. While it is a wild river, we always felt secure and confident of our guides ability and judgement. Not only can they guide but they can cook - they fed us like kings, were personable, engaging and fun.
It’s hard to find the right words to do justice to the 8 days we spent on the Franklin. The sheer beauty of the river and its surrounding forests, sheer ravines and majestic mountains remind you this truly is a wild place. There are few adventures you can go on these days, with no prior experience, and be so immersed in the middle of wilderness. Not only that but we had a ball, laughed, looked in awe, learnt and absorbed the beauty of the place. Thanks Elias, Mitch, Grace and Jarryd. You and the Franklin are awesome!

We have just returned from our 8 day trip, led by the very capable Max and Mitch (Mix and Match).

As Tasmanians, we had been considering this trip for a long time, always slipping into the "...but we could fly to (insert international destination) for that money" hesitation. Finally, we just realised that our own backyard was more than worthy of our investment, and we are so happy that we did.

This trip came at the perfect time, it took us from the chaos and stress of our day to day, and stripped away the noise. It was the perfect blend of excitement, reflection and serenity. I cannot think of a better way to bring in the New Year and am so grateful to have been in the very capable hands of Max and Mitch - they brought humour, knowledge and care to the expedition, and we felt so comfortable in their hands. Our final day on the river made so very special thanks to Mitch with moments of reflection and honesty. Thank you.

Thanks FRR, you offer a world class experience, in the most amazing of locations.

My recommendation to anyone considering this trip is simply to DO IT. Put your trust in this company, and you will not regret it. You will be challenged, excited, well fed (scotch fillet by the river!), well entertained (Max is a master story teller), and importantly, you will learn that some things in life are absolutely worth standing up and fighting for.

Thanks again Max and Mitch, and FRR.
