These days it is very easy to book on the net, anyone can do it, but, and its a big but, when things go wrong or you need some urgent help, the last thing you want to be doing is speaking into a phone that no human answers.

I have used Marcus for all our international trips and last year we had to change our family travel plans completely due to a family emergency, that was after we had booked everything, and with tens of thousands of $$$ at stake. A phone call to Marcus and everything was taken care of and we just rebooked everything for our trip this year in a few months.

Marcus at Fairy Chimneys Travel designed an 18 day program for us to Turkiye and Greece. We cannot more highly recommend a travel company. Having done lots of travel over the years, this was by far the best experience we have had. The itinerary was excellent, the arrangements executed without issue (including flights, hotels, pickups and tours), and the guides and drivers were outstanding and very engaging, obviously proud of their country and their job. Early last year (2024) my wife and I, both retired, started planning a holiday to Provence, Greece and Turkey. We were looking for quality accommodation and friendly, small-group guided tours around historical sites, especially in Turkiye which we had not visited before. Friends put us in touch with Marcus at Fairy Chimneys Travel and he absolutely transformed our holiday planning. He found excellent accommodation for us in Nice, Crete and at several locations in Turkey, all of excellent quality, perfect location and very good value for money. The hotel in Chania (Crete) was perfectly placed on the edge of the centuries-old harbour with fabulous views, delightful staff and dozens of eating locations close by. In Turkiye he arranged excellent small-group tours as we had requested to Pergamon, Troy and Gallipoli, using very well-read local guides from Crowded House Tours (!) and Mercedes vans. His locally-engaged staff gave very informative tours and excellent service. We were particularly grateful that his agent in Istanbul, having been advised that our arrival had been delayed until late at night due to major traffic delays, personally arranged for our hotel room to be upgraded and for a delayed start to our city tour the next day. Our guide for Istanbul was a delightful guy, a loving family man with whom we easily bonded; indeed, we became great friends after just a few days. He could not have been more cooperative and informative, and we still keep in touch with him. Without the exceptional support and advice of Marcus and his agents in Greece and Turkiye, our holiday would not have been the wonderful, memorable experience that it was. We will be back in touch with him for the next trip!

Marcus had put together a great itinerary for us with a number of sightseeing suggestions and reasonably priced accommodation in peak season for eastern Europe. Some of the accommodation locations were a little further away from the center but places were accessible by bus and taxi.
Very happy with the trip overall and would highly recommend his meticulous and thorough approach.

Previously we have planned our own trips, taking hours and hours and (retrospectively) traveling inefficiently. Marcus listened to what we wanted from our trip and set about delivering it accordingly. A couple of times we asked for him to make some changes during the trip (that he had initially suggested) when we realised his approach was better - it was done quickly and efficiently.
