Estia Health at Twin Waters were great at some things and below par on others. My mum was a high need inpatient for approximately two weeks and she required medication to be administered every 2-3 hours. If you want a loved one to enjoy the later stages in life, to get the chance to partake in a wide variety of activities and aren't highly reliant on nursing - this is a great place for that. If you need a loved one to get multiple medications delivered specifically to a GP's prescribed plan for significant pain management late in life, then based on our experience it will be a constant battle with all levels of management to get the team to deliver to a standard required. Mum's medication plan was well known to Estia Twin Waters when Estia said they could look after mum at their facility, but from my perspective it appeared they took mum on when they weren't fully equipped to deal with her needs.

Some staff were exceptional, Debbie the nurse and Alicia at reception in particular. Nossa was great. Amanda took all our concerns seriously but things she delegated wouldn't get done. Nice facility.

I would have loved to type in here that we had a fantastic wholist caring and kind experience in the last part of my mother’s life here on earth.

Firstly, I’d like to point out that you need to be present to advocate for your loved ones.
Even then? You should micro manage what is going on, as here at Estia? They neglected my mother and she suffered horribly because of it.
Avis the old head nurse has absolutely no empathy for the elderly on her watch, at least, she didn’t for my mother & other people were upset that their parents were not getting the care they soo badly needed.

I came to her many times in tears and told her that I’d done so twice in a week and her response was “oh, so sad” then she picked up the phone to dial someone irrelevant to mum. Then, I begged her to help my mother as she was coughing, gagging, dry vomiting. Struggling to breathe! She came into the room like a Sargent major man and said and i am saying this honestly

“She’s breathing!! She’s fine”!!!
Then walked out. A carer who are the glue that holds this place together & are soo kind, and caring loving and helpful asked if she could video my mother to take it to Avis, and show her!
Avis also stated a number of things to me to “block me from getting proper care” for my beloved mother even senega of ammonia. It was the worst time
Ambulance was called and mums lungs were drained of 1.4 litres of fluid.
How no nurse cared enough to register how sick she was! The pathology came back that mum was riddled with cancer. She had severe pneumonia
She was very very unwell.
Once mum received the proper care she died within two weeks. We were taken to Dove palliative care at Caloundra, where they treated my mother with respect, kindness and absolute beauty until she passed. My mother needn’t have suffered as much as she did under their care.
Be careful!! You need to be present to care for your loved one.
*** Edit after response by Estia
They knew all of this! The executive director told me to call a taxi to take mum to the doctors as they wouldn’t let the doctors onboard see mum. Mum was in a princess chair) ?
Their excuse for that? She doesn’t come from a medical background, the executive director? They just don’t care! There’s no way I could have taken mum in a princess chair!! They were already given feedback over this ordeal and no phone calls or anything!! It’s taken me since 2nd January to do this review as it’s still soo raw
Mum need not have suffered as much as she did’
Then? They administered oral morphine (they didn’t fill the script for 5 days after she was discharged back into their care!!) we had to go to the chemist at Maroochydore to fill it, and then they squirted it down the back of her throat so she asphyxiated!! It’s to be put at the front of the mouth!! So called an ambulance & took her back to hospital! Bloody disgusting my dog was treated better than mum was at the end of her life!
Take care everyone it’s a jungle out there

Wonderful staff and beautiful facility. Our loved one is very happy for the majority of the time. However weekends and public holidays the quality of food and staff to resident ratio is significantly diminished. We have buzzed for over 40 minutes on a weekend to visit our loved one and in the end gave up. I would think given its a 24 hour, 365 day facility weekends should be no different, the care required for residents doesn't change from day to day. Unfortunately no matter how good the facility it always comes back to the mighty dollar. Staff can only do what they can do when they are short staffed.

Kind, caring and efficient management and staff

I would like to thank everyone at Estia Health Twin Waters for there assistance in helping me move my mother into aged care.
Moving Mum has been the toughest decision I have ever had to make and this experience has been life changing for both Mum and myself and without the care and compassion shown by everyone at Estia I would not have coped.

Although it was a painful process moving Mum into care it was necessary. The support from the staff at Estia has given me the confidence and peace of mind that I have done the right thing for my Mother.

Thank you again to all at Estia Health

My Finnish grandmother lived here at Estia Twin Waters and was treated extremely well by the lovely staff. The whole facility is clean, modern, comfortable, air conditioned, well furnished. The staff got to understand my grandmothers needs and ensured her a great quality of life. It was lovely to go in to visit her and have great conversations with all the other lovely staff and residents. Although wish there were a bit more activities for residents, they did their best to ensure a standard of care unparalleled. I sure wish all ages care homes were to this standard, albeit more affordably. Great food for the residents, attention to detail for quality of life, and such clean amenities. And when we had to move her out of the facility, they even threw in some gifts for her and treated her so well during her moving process. This facility is extremely expensive obviously, but that’s more a fault of the government (LNP) privatising everything, rather than Estia themselves. Thank you Estia!

LOVE THIS PLACE.
DELIGHTED with the effort and care taken to settle my dad into respite at EH-TW. Teething problems were promptly dealt with and and all communications were kind, caring and professional. The facility has been very welcoming and flexible for my dad's particular requirements.
Therefore we can now see this will be the best place for him in the long term which is such a blessing.
Also I have found that the admission processes/paperwork here are easy compared to a previous facility dad tried.
My sisters and I are encouraging dad to stay here permanently. We visited several facilities in the local area before deciding on TW and can see that dad is happy enough here.
Highlights: the wide corridors, the light filled spaces and rooms, the coffee shop, the flexible caring attitude.
