We had an amazing holiday in Sri Lanka thanks to Essence Sri Lanka Private Tours and the wonderful Aravinda.
Aravinda provides a very prompt and personal service, taking the time to talk with you about your interests and the type of holiday you are looking for. Because of our work commitments there was only a short amount of time to pull together our holiday plan and itinerary.
We chose the luxury couples tour that allowed us to blend our interests in culture, history, food, wildlife and beautiful scenery.
Our package included transfers, a personal guide/driver, 5 star accomodation, a minimum of 2 meals a day and all our entrance and activity fees.
It was a stress free holiday because everything was very well organised and coordinated. Our guide was warm and friendly and very experienced, and knowledgeable. He helped us navigate everything from local customs, shopping and tipping. We felt safe and comfortable throughout our travels.
Prior to, during and after our holiday Aravinda touched base via text message to ensure everything was going smoothly.
Sri Lanka is an incredible country with so much to offer the traveller. If you are looking to travel to Sri Lanka we would highly recommend Essence Sri Lanka Private Tours.

We had a wonderful 14 night/15 day tour through Sri Lanka 11-26 August 2025. All arranged by Aravinda of Essence Sri Lanka Private Tours. I initially contacted Aravinda mid 2024 , one of three companies I requested quotes and itineraries from. Very quickly it became apparent that Essence Sri Lanka was the company that we would be comfortable engaging with.
Aravinda admitted, very early on, that he had only just started his company. In fact he told me that we were his clients.
Throughout the entire process Aravinda could not have been more helpful. Even when I threw a huge curve ball by bringing the tour dates forward three months. Nothing fazed him. The local tour company he is affiliated with, NKAR Travel were excellent. The guide/driver from NKAR, Ranjan, was a great person to have taking us around Sri Lanka. All the hotel bookings were made as per the schedule and the itinerary followed to ensure we didn't miss anything. Ranjan was also very willing to suggest other activities that we might enjoy e.g. River Safari on Madu River. The highlight for us was two separate leopard sightings at Yala. We stayed at Uga Chena Huts which was amazing. We also really enjoyed the swimming with turtles experience near Weligama. The train trip from Nanu Onya was very relaxing with great views. I have no hesitation in recommending Essence Sri Lanka Private Tours to anyone wanting a great Sri Lankan experience.

This trip was flawless and made both my mother and I fall in love with the country of Sri Lanka. A big reason for this was because of the amazing help of Aravinda and the people of his company
'Essence'. They worked closely with the crew in Sri Lanka to make sure we saw every part of the itinerary and more. Could not recommend this service more, will most certainly be using again.
P.s. Highly Recommend adding Sri Lanka to future travel plans.

Aravinda put together a relaxing and amazing tour of his home country. We had a wonderful driver - tour guide who showed us the sights and drove us skilfully through the beautiful countryside and chaotic cities. We experienced ancient historical places, unbelievable tea plantations, delicious local food and safaris in national parks where we encountered elephants, buffalo, deer, a rare leopard and beautiful birds.
Aravinda was friendly and attentive to our needs, frequently checking on us and responding quickly to our queries.
I would highly recommend Essence to organise a customised Sri Lankan tour for couples or a small group.

We did an off the beaten track trip of Sri Lanka organised by Aravinda and can’t speak highly enough of the service we received from him. Starting from the initial contact to customise the trip we wanted, he has been nothing but friendly and professional. I had Dusha from Essence Tours as a Trail Guide in Haputale, for Pekoe Trail Stage 13. He was an excellent guide and companion. Dusha arranged all logistics and provided a lot of information about local culture. He knows the trail well and was always kind and helpful. He was good at spotting birds and wildlife. I recommend Dusha very highly.
