Breathtaking Views at Echo Point Lookout – A Must-Visit in the Blue Mountains!

If you’re visiting the Blue Mountains, Echo Point Lookout is an absolute must-see. The view of the iconic Three Sisters rock formation is simply stunning, especially at sunrise or sunset when the light paints the cliffs in golden hues.

The lookout is easily accessible and perfect for all ages. There are plenty of photo opportunities, and the walking tracks nearby offer more incredible viewpoints for those who want to explore further.

The area is well-maintained with clear signage, toilets, and a visitor centre that provides great background on the history and Aboriginal significance of the site.

Whether you’re on a day trip from Sydney or staying in Katoomba, Echo Point offers an unforgettable experience with some of the best scenery in New South Wales.

Arrived around 4PM to see the iconic Three Sisters, and it was truly breathtaking! The view is absolutely worth it, especially as the sun starts to dip and the colors get warmer.

Travel tip: It gets pretty cold in the late afternoon (around 14°C when I went), so make sure to bring a jacket or something cozy—especially if you plan to stay for sunset.

Expect lots of tourists snapping pics, but there’s still enough space to enjoy the scenery peacefully. It’s a quick and easy stop that gives you a gorgeous slice of the Blue Mountains without needing to hike.

Would totally recommend if you’re road-tripping or doing a day tour nearby!

The Three Sisters at Echo Point is one of the most iconic and recognizable landmarks in the Blue Mountains—and for good reason. The rock formations are absolutely stunning up close, with dramatic cliffs and deep valleys stretching out into the distance. The viewing platform at Echo Point offers unobstructed, panoramic views of the Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters themselves—perfect for photos and soaking in the scenery.

The lookout is well-designed, spacious, and easily accessible, but it’s definitely a popular spot and can get quite crowded, especially on weekends or during holidays. Parking is limited near the main entrance; we had to find street parking about 600 metres away, so be prepared for a short walk.

Despite the crowds, it’s absolutely worth a visit—especially if it’s your first time in the Blue Mountains. The views are breathtaking and the geological formations are even more impressive in person.

Beautiful spot with stunning views and plenty of lovely photo opportunities. The area is well maintained and definitely worth a visit. Parking is a bit of a nightmare when it’s busy, and very expensive. I think we paid $5 for around 15 minutes. There’s no free parking nearby, even in the residential streets, so it’s something to keep in mind. Still, a gorgeous place overall!

Great vantage point to take photos of the Three Sisters. Parking is metered expensive. No free parking even in the residential area. You can walk up the first Sister easy walk with a some steps at the end. Unfortunately it was being repaired when we went. Signage could've been better. We went for a wander beyond the honeymoon bridge thinking we could walk to the scenic railway but for another half hour there was no further signs so we walked back because we were not sure if we were on the right track.

This is a fantastic lookout to one of NSW's natural treasures - the Three Sisters. Took a gamble with the rainy & extremely foggy weather. With the thick fog, at times, it was almost impossible to see even the closest tree to the railings. Boy, did nature put on an amazing show when the skies cleared up. It was a less than 10 minutes window when the fog cleared up to capture the beautiful sights of the mountains. All in all, despite almost constant rainfall and fog, it created a truly mythical & magical experience. It was the first time I have ever experienced this as it has always been a sunny with clear blue skies experience visiting this lookout point in the past.

Some key highlights and sharing some pointers:
- The walkways to the different viewing platforms were still safe to walk even in wet weather, but I would recommend wearing good shoes with good grip.
- There is a very conveniently located tourist information centre.
- There are public toilets around near the tourist information centre.
- It is possible to catch public buses using an Opal card/ credit card/ debit card to Echo Point. Just remember to check the times and can take circa 20 odd mins from Katoomba station.
- It is also possible to catch an Uber here, too. The drivers can stop close enough to walk down to the lookout points. Recommend to get dropped off or picked up from near The Lookout Echo Point.
- It was possible to use an umbrella when it rains, but a poncho or raincoat could be handier, especially when it gets windy.

I think this place is worth visiting any time of the day and almost in any weather condition as each brings a different experience + beauty.

It offers an incredible front row view of the famous Three Sisters rock formation. Easy to access, with walking trails and the visitor centre nearby. Parking can be limited during busy times.

Always beautiful. Always changing. Never the same day to day and so many different expressions across the day with the sun at different angles. Mist in the morning and Mt solitary illuminated at sunrise. Brilliant orange and reds at sunset highlight the three sisters and Mt solitary together.
It's a must go-to when visiting the mountains for the first or Nth time.
