We had such a fabulous time on the steam train trip to Brookstead with DownsSteam railway. The trip went like clockwork and the camp oven meal prepared by the Brookstead Hall Committee was delicious. Highly recommend taking a trip with DownsSteam!

Lovely place. The dream time place is amazing the whole carriage has aboriginal style art work. Prices are real, not over priced. Leave you to spend big to support this volunteer community run place.

We went during a balmy rainy weekend and I needed to settle my babyladies immediately. There is a $5 donation for adults and you're ready for the sights and sounds of actual steam trains. The volunteers were very welcoming and all my train crazy children's questions were answered patiently and in a language they all understand.

If you have extra budget, DO NOT LEAVE without riding the Drayton-Wyreema train. It's also cheaper to pay there instead of booking online. There is no platform when you reach the destination in Wyreema but the rural sights of golden fields, wild rabbits and wallabies, littered by rubbish from the back of some houses, are a sight my city girls can't get enough of.

We didn't leave until we bought the train whistle and their enamel mugs from the lovely souvenir shop ladies.

Extremely well organised and impressive operation of heritage rail run by volunteers. Highly recommend a day trip out to Brookstead, it’s a full day, but a great day.
