Nice spot. A bit noisy if you are on ground floor and people staying above. Bed was comfy and room was pretty clean. A/c worked well keeping the room cool. Restaurant is being renovated at the moment and no one knows when it will be up and running. This was a real let down, as the site goes on about a special chef etc and the menu looked good. Not many places around to eat, so plan your drive when going through Victoria and thinking of staying in Stawell. Not high on my list for recommending this place. It is cheap, and would be worth it maybe when the restaurant opens back up.

Our friends booked here on a recommendation so we were not really knowing what to expect.
Really nice old building with so much character.
The service from the owner was very friendly and a bit cheeky at times but you just love that. Meals we generous and nicely cooked and reasonably priced.
Really got a surprise but I think it is worth dining there if you are in Stawell.

This place is lovely with its quaint decor & open fire.
The service was superb, but I wouldn't expect anything less from a small family run business.
Great selection of wines to choose from and the entree's, mains & desserts we all had were fantastic. No grumbles from any of the six of us.
We will definitely be back again. Very nice indeed 👍👍

Stawell’s Diamond House Heritage Restaurant & Motor Inn is an excellent alternative to staying at Halls Gap and is only 20 minutes from the Grampians. My wife and I stayed one night only to break the trip from Adelaide to Ocean Grove. ||Diamond House is an attractive rustic heritage establishment from 1868. The owner (or manager), Dave, is a likable Yorkshireman with a good sense of humour. Ben, the friendly restaurant host, delivers excellent meals. ||The Bush Dust Kangaroo served with Mashed Potato and Vegetables is very tasty, and the Confit Mint Lamb Shank served with Creamy Mash was also excellent.|| Both meals at $30 each represent good value. Wines are very reasonably priced. We recommend the Shiraz for both meals. ||We intend to stay on our next trip to Stawell. |||||

I didn't eat at the restaurant, I stayed the night. The room is great, with excellent house keeping, very tidy and clean. Aircon is quiet and cools and heats rapidly. The beds are comfortable, shower has great pressure and easily adjusted temperature - no need to find that sweet spot.

We loved this restaurant! Don’t be put off by the quirky facade and homely interior- the building has an interesting history and the venue is a pleasant place to eat. The guy on service (and I am sorry I can’t remember his name) was welcoming and provided friendly and quite excellent service without being intrusive. The food (scallops, duck spring rolls, chicken and amazing dusted kangaroo) were perfectly cooked and all flavoursome. Generous servings too. The only negative was a few flies flying around the windows but nevertheless, we highly recommend it.

Didn't stay in this beautiful place, but we had dinner here (actually still having dinner as I am writing this review)

The gentleman is so nice and friendly, super quick and attentive, on top of that the food are so tasty and such a big portion for the price!

By the time he checked up on us, I've inhaled my kangaroo mains🤣

Love the antique decor too.
Some music would be nice though!
