Very much enjoyed the mushroom foraging tour with Ian! We woke up before 5 to get the morning tour and it was well worth the early rise. Ian is passionate for the outdoors and sharing his experience with others. He happily answered any questions and gave us all the information to safely forage in the pine forest, to eventually be able to do it on our own next mushroom season. There are many poisonous mushrooms (pictured) to be wary of, so being able to call on Ian's help was great.

We visited several locations deep in the pine forest to find both saffron milk caps and slippery jacks, and after having time to fill our boxes had the chance to eat some pickings for morning tea. It truly added to the adventure and sense of remoteness, and we all appreciated the quiet calm of the forest.

Leaving the forest we had the full 4wd experience of going through slippery roads and over trees with ease. Thanks for a great tour Ian, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Definitely recommending for anyone that wants to escape the city.

Went on an off road 4WD tour today with my family and it was so beautiful. Saw kangaroos, cockatoos, an abandoned hut, beautiful lakes and rivers, a massive termite nest, lots and lots of butterflies and even a fox and an emu!! Ian is such a nice person, he ensured we were safe the entire time, told us stories and even packed us yummy breakfast and lunch!! It was my younger sisters birthday and he even brought a beautiful cake for us! Spent the whole day outside in the beautiful weather. Made it back to the end of the tour on time before it started raining. I definitely recommend doing this tour in your lifetime. You will NOT regret it!!!

My friends and I had SUCH AN AMAZING morning with Ian
Totally worth the cost and waking up at 4:45AM to make our way from Sydney to go for Mushroom Foraging
He was professional and fun. A joy to talk to.
We picked so many Slippery Jacks and Silk Caps
And had a little morning tea/break to cook up some of our mushrooms. Ian had also prepared some bread, Tim tams and fruits!
It was such a relaxing and wholesome morning

Many thanks to Ian, my tour guide today. We were met up in the train station then drove to see Mount Panorama, historical houses, show ground, Abercrombie house and other more. Introduce me the history of inland first settlement city and talked some of the local economics. It was a great day to visit and know more of Bathurst!

Ian was an incredibly welcoming tour guide, and made our group super comfortable with foraging for mushrooms from the get go. He was super lovely in helping us reschedule after our group caught covid-19 and had to cancel our original tour date. Highly recommend and would definitely come again for his knowledge of the Oberon pine forest area!

We enjoyed a perfect autumn afternoon with Ian. He showed us how to spot saffron milk caps and slippery jacks, and to forage safely. Ian took us to an area he knew well, and we were lucky with the season. We picked a back seat full of mushrooms. Thank you Ian for a great outing!

Had an amazing day Mushroom foraging guided by Ian from Detour Adventures over the Easter in Oberon. They were professional and extremely helpful and incredibly accommodating in light of weekend conditions. Definitely made the weekend getaway memorable.

If you're looking for a business that knows what they're doing, friendly as you'd get, has a wealth of information around the region, and in what they are providing, probably can't go wrong with Detour Adventures.

100% recommend going with Detour Adventures and would definitely do their tours again.

I took a Bathurst City Walking tour with Ian Redpath of Detour Adventures. It was a real eye opener. Ian doesn't just take you to the main streets, he takes you through all the back alleys to see hidden sites. On a couple of occasions I wondered where on earth we were going. Ian often has permission from the owners to take you inside. You will definitely see places you would not otherwise see.

The other thing is the small details that you would miss like glass windows or the mystery object in the Town Square ...
Ian is a long term Bathurst resident and is so passionate about his town. He'll make tours bespoke if people are interested including a lot of research on old maps and things.

It was a fascinating couple of hours.
