I have experienced many of the Destination Adventure events including The Great Island Trek and Bay to Base walks. These events that take place on Magnetic Island provide magical scenery, there is a wonderful sense of fun and camaraderie and the walks are organised and run to perfection. I can 100% recommend adding a Destination Adventure event to your bucket list! You’ll even see koalas along the way!

Awestruck to have completed my first Bay to Base event at Magnetic Island, Queensland, Australia with Destination Adventures in April 2023!
Day before the event… The excitement was building as the tickets for the event, barge and accommodation were all booked early. The arrival process on Magnetic Island and registration for the event on the deck overlooking the ocean was seamless. A warm hug by the organiser Daina and we immediately felt welcome. We met up with friends with our event ticket number in one hand and a quiet drink in the other as we watched the sunset and listened to the background music. Cool and chilled vibes.
Day of the event… watching the sunrise and meeting at Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal. I recall the scent of roasted coffee beans! Everyone was buzzing and mingling with friends all sporting their coloured ticket numbers on their shirts and water hydration packs. The coloured tickets resembled the event and wave of your nomination.
The start line… it was a sea of people at the Bay! As we were taking photos of the glorious morning, the participants for the first wave were grouping and making their start. Next was our turn, the feeling of excitement and nerves rolled into one. Daina was full of information, praise for her team of volunteers and sponsors and presented in a witty and comical way, always with a laugh! The important information was relayed by a megaphone, the takeaway ‘no farting at cars’ (lol) and taking a snap of the course map.
During the event… Such a well organised event. All the volunteers ensured we were all on track. The photographer caught our best side on numerous occasions. The trail was challenging but the views of Magnetic Island are magnificent. Take your breath away… magnificent. So many photo opportunities along the way, we were even lucky enough for two koala sightings. There was respect on the track from the participants and a sense of camaraderie. The hydration and food stations were in accessible locations. Feeling blessed for the rest stop with ice cold water refill, sweet watermelon, bananas, and lolly bags.
The finish line… The overwhelming sense of accomplishment was amazing. We did it, we crossed the line reminding us “It’s not a race. It’s an adventure”. I was greeted by my family and presented with a Bay to Base t-shirt by more volunteers. The music was pumping, and drinks and food were available. I’m not going to lie, some of us were hurting and sore. Post hike massages were on offer for a donation to a good cause. We caught up with friends and reflected on the walk and our achievements. Staying as long or short as you like for the event after party.
We had perfect weather, the day was truly blissful and I am so thankful to Daina and her team at Destination Adventure and all the volunteers for organising this world class event. You are remarkable and we congratulate you all for bringing everyone together to participate in the event and sharing the magic of Magnetic Island. I love the fundraising aspect of these events and the opportunity to be involved with giving back to the community.
Thanks for creating a memorable experience, one which I hope to repeat next year and many more years with family and friends.

Daina and her team run amazing events and opportunities for people from all walks of life. The walks, bike rides and other events are enjoyed by many from Townsville and surrounds. As a participant and volunteer it is always encouraging to see how everyone is smiling and enjoying the inclusive events. Thoroughly recommend the events organised by Destination Adventure on the beautiful Magnetic Island.

Destination Adventure host the most amazing events. Have loved the three Great Island treks I have been involved with and the April Bay to Base event was equally amazing. Particularly love the all abilities 5km trek option. Suitable for everyone - pram pushers, families and anyone who may not be able to navigate steps, hill climbs and beach sand. Will definetly be returning for the 2024 event.

Destination adventure runs the great island trek & bay to base on magnetic island yearly. Both the events are a favourite of mine and a must for people of all ages and fitness levels to do once in their lifetime. Trekking around magnetic island taking in the views and seeing parts of the island you would not normal visit is a highlight of this event.
I love the events so much that I’ve gone from being a participant to volunteering with Daina and the crew.

I have had the pleasure of attending the great island trek a number of times over the last few years. This event is run very professionally with great attention to detail. Daina’s personality is as big as the trek, and good fun is always had by all that attend! If you haven’t had a crack at this defiantly put it on your list of things to do!!

I love the camaraderie, scenery, challenge, and fun of the Destination Adventure’s Trek’s on Magnetic Island both the Great Island Trek & the Bay to Base Trek. The stunning scenery is second to none, you get to really appreciate the beautiful Magnetic Island from so many different angles. Having played sports my entire life, I can honestly say that I have never been involved in an event that is so supportive & inclusive. It is an amazing sense of accomplishment once you cross that finish line & I recommend the experience to anyone. Believe me though, once you do one trek, you’ll be hooked & find yourself signing up for every one!!?‍♀️

Destination Adventure, the name says it ALL! This business creates the most amazing events on Magnetic Island. I’ve been a part of both The Great Island Trek and Bay to Base and I will be back every year!
The events are well organised, inclusive of all abilities, friendly and most importantly well supported from start to finish.
I highly recommend this business and these events for anyone wanting to attend.
