Says they are open 7 days a week. When we went, the signs said it was open, but the door was locked, and no one would answer the door or the phone number provided. The place isn't looked after well, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Tried to ring Angus regarding the jade motel’s brochures for the museum, phone forwarded to his mobile and got a message saying that his message bank is full. It’s worth a mention as a local that in front of the building was poorly cleaned/tidied, windows were dirty, and shop was shut.

The salesperson at Jade Shop and Motel Cowell was very helpful and friendly to us. He answered all my questions and told me about jade extraction. There were many pieces of jewelry to choose from and I even got to see what the jade looks like as a rock. It was a very pleasant stay.

It was closed when we visited in September 2024 and looked like it had been shut for a while... At least the winter... Check it's open before trying to visit the jade museum there.
I have included an average rating as not able to comment having not stayed, but so can save others a detour.

Just left the Jade Showroom. Young owner opened up when he heard me knock on door. Bought lovely set of large NT garnet earrings for $60. I like to buy Australian stones and know where they come.

Twice in one week we tried to buy some jade BUT THE SHOP WAS SHUT BOTH TIMES looking through the window it looks like it’s been shut for sometime as the counters had a layer of dust over them but the sign says open ha ha ha what a waste of time. It’s a shame as we bought a lot of jade 12 years ago, we just wanted some more. There loss. we didn’t stay there but I feel it’s only ants and cockroaches that lives there by the looks of the motel.

We weren't staying at the motel but stopped in to see the Black Jade display. The lady was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and the rare black jade mined locally. There was no pressure to purchase and their jewelry and jade items were beautiful local produced goods which were very reasonably priced.

This place should be at the top of your list for things to do in Cowell. Cowell (nephrite) jade is famous for its toughness and fine texture. Cowell is also fortunate in having large deposits of this valuable gemstone, including the rare black jade. The showroom is full of exciting items and Chris is absolutely beautiful and so helpful. We purchased a couple of items and prices were excellent. What an absolutely genuine and knowledgeable person this lady is, and she made our whole trip meaningful. Can’t thank her enough. Please support this excellent business.
