This place needs closing down. Nurses blatantly lie about daily care that they should do but don't do it. The other day my catheter was leaking. I was left with a soaking wet bed for 5 hours before they did anything. A care management that needs doing every year not done for 3 days and she records that she did it.
Its not a rehab, it's not a hospital. Even the food is shocking.
A prison would be better.

Staff fantastic during the week, weekend staff awful, denigrating yo elderly patients, no empathy for patients adjusting to being inprisoned. Patients can't go outside for sunshine even with family taking responsibility. This place overlooks the ocean, such a healing place. BuT No patients must spend their days locked up. Prison is more empathetic than this place. Please don't send family here unless they are severe dementia, where they don't know where they are regardless.

The whole Illawarra Health system has been very dissapointing. With poor food, unattentive staff and a lack of care for patients.

Coledale Hospital seems to be lowest level we have seen so far. The food is slop that wouldn't pass in a prison. Which is the general feel of this Hospital, with the windows closed and the doors locked.

Back to the food i nearly threw up as they served it to my Dad, we got takeaway instead.

If you are under the impression that this is a rehab centre. It is not. The rehab centre is closed and not in use. So the other hospitals that are sending your patients here thinking that rehab is happening, you are just sending them to a prison, nothing else is happening here, it is just a waiting bay until you either give up or get moved to a nursing home.

Some nurses care and realize that they can't do anything to change things due to the rules that have been implemented. Other nurses don't know to take blood pressure.

The management don't understand that these are still people and that the old rules and Covid concerns are now out of date and not saving lives, but the are probably killing them.

I told my wife, if I get left in here one day, don't leave me with a rope.

This is what Coledale hospital feeds the residents!
Staff who really care resign, as they can't stand how other staff treat the residents.
It is not a hospital, it is just a "parking place" where the "unwanted" are kicked out of hospitals to wait for a placement in an aged care home.
Disgusted how society continues to let down our elderly!

I suffered a suspected hypothermia and exhaustion years ago, I was travelling to North Sydney from Eden on a 125cc motorbike to look for a job. On the return next day it was 42 degree's I was dehydrated and a huge southerly storm blew in creating 50knot winds and piercing rain. It dropped from 40 plus degrees to high teens in the space of a few hours.
I was dizzy and could hardly control my motorbike in the wind. I crossed the sea cliff bridge at around 10kph swerving all over both lanes of traffic. I made it to the other side and saw a sign for this hospital.

I somehow managed to ride my bike up the hill into their underground carpark. This is the most digusting part...I collapsed as soon as I got off my bike and crawled to their front glass doors which were locked. I just had enough energy to press the bell and the lady on the intercom flat out refused to open the door. She must have been watching on camera.
Maybe she thought i was a thief or she was scared who knowns but she didn't offer any help whatsoever. I had no phone and couldn't call an ambulance myself.

Anyway I drank the rain water that fell on my face and after 10 mins managed to get back on my bike and ride to the next town. I saw the first hotel and walked through the bottle o entrance where I collapsed again and took out a pile of bottles and boxes with me. Needless to say they called an ambulance for me and got me help.

I think back now if I didn't have the strength to get back on that bike outside the hospital I might have died right there and then on their glass entrance doors.

I hope this gets reviewed and they can look back at the footage and sack someone because whoever was behind those doors that day is absolute scum.

1st November 2020 Wollongong Public hospital returned to the fracture ward after a Total hip replacement.
On my arrival Coaldale 7th November 2020 carefully explained my injuries from a fall I had at my home. RN Nursing Staff took no notice. The reply was always the same. Coaldale rehabilitation Mr. Martin if you get sick you will be sent by ambulance immediately to Wollongong Public Hospital.

My stay at this rehabilitation for those 25 days was not to my expectations. Lodged a two complains (1) to Wollongong Hospital and (second complaint Coaldale) eventually receive a apologies letters part there of I deeply regret that you felt unsafe 29/09/20
