You don’t get this often enough but the warm welcome began from the front to walking past the kitchen right into the courtyard🤗a genuine welcome! Classic old building in Bangalow full of charm and the converted courtyard reminded me of being in Italy 🇮🇹 and the food tasted like it came straight from there ☺️ pizza, pasta, green salad and chinotto…a perfect evening dinner all round 👌🏼👏🏼

I’ve eaten my fair share of pizzas, including many in Italy, the birthplace of pizza itself. But let me tell you, Ciao, Mate! has set a whole new standard for me. This place isn’t just a restaurant - it’s a culinary revelation.

We started the evening with their homemade focaccia, and from the first bite, I knew we were in for something extraordinary. For our mains, we chose two incredible pizzas: the New York Vodka and the Pepperoni - both absolutely out of this world. The dough was perfection: light, airy, and beautifully charred. The toppings? Fresh, flavorful, and crafted with care. Every bite felt like a celebration.

We paired the pizzas with a generous salad, which was crisp, vibrant, and the perfect complement to the richness of the pizzas. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, we finished with the Tiramisu. I have no words for how incredible it was - easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.

The ambiance, service, and attention to detail were all spot on, making the entire evening unforgettable. If you love pizza and want to experience something truly special, Ciao, Mate! is a must. It’s not just a meal - it’s a memory.

OMGORSH!!one of the best pizzas I’ve had in a hot minute. There was a side of ‘chilli oil’ I don’t know the actual name but wow!

We ordered the pepperoni pizza with smoked hot honey and let me tell you.. it was outstanding from the dough to toppings. Nice amount of cheese.

The straticiella (?) with broad beans and focaccia melted in your mouth. Would’ve definitely eaten more of the focaccia if we didn’t have pizza haha.

Great little spot. Was visiting family and 3 of showed up for a bite, sat at the bar out front and ordered a couple pizzas, anchovies on toast and a salad.

Was convinced to try the pepperoni with honey, which I was unsure about, but tasted great. Good chew to the crust.

If I’m in the neighborhood again will certainly try stop by.

We stopped there on our way back to Brisbane from Melbourne, as it came up as a great alternative to a quick bite on the highway.

We were immediately greeted by the staff, and had a little table close to the window.
Because it was just a quick dinner, we ordered a pizza margherita, and the special 18 hours ragoût pasta.
The pizza was actually surprisingly good, whereas I did not fully appreciate the pasta (shells, commercial quality) and the addition of green sauce to it, although it was definitely not bad.
We then had the special mango semifreddo, which was really good, and an espresso.

The prices were proportioned to offering such dishes in a relatively remote place, and the service was quick.

We will probably be back when in the area.

Excellent Italian dinner in what was a small 1920s shopfront in Bangalow. Simple, sparse but considered and delicious menu, good wine list and friendly service. Very enjoyable.

Ate here twice whilst in Byron. Service was always quality and quick. Food is just outstanding. The vibe inside & out is truly unique and makes you feel like you've stepped into a movie. Feel good dining. love it!
