My friend booked this via Airbnb so I couldn't rate it there, but just had to tell others about this place.

The host was so welcoming and friendly, and made my friends and I a delicious breakfast after a late sleep in.

The views from the top of the hill that the houses are situated on are beautiful, and the area has plenty to offer.

The beds were also incredibly comfy!

My wife and I have stayed at Celestine house a few times now and will keep coming back.

The included Devonshire tea on arrival and breakfasts are amazing, as is the candlelight dinner (extra $ but worth it for the scalloped potatoes alone).

It's a really comfortable, relaxed and private place to stay. You could use it as a base for exploring nearby Castlemaine, Daylesford, Bendigo etc. Or alternatively just relax for a few days and do nothing at all while taking advantage of the generous sized spa baths and the beautiful views over the valley.

Celestine House was a genuine surprise. We were booked in by someone else and didn’t know what to expect. But Chris made us welcome even before we arrived by lighting a warm fire in the cottage. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We stayed 3 nights and had Chris prepare dinner on the second night. It was excellent. He did a great lamb rack. And kids we looked after too. The chocolate pudding and sticky date dessert were sensational. Breakfast each morning was substantial and tasty.|Devonshire tea on Saturday afternoon was lovely with Chris’s own preserves.|The location is good for visiting local wineries. Accommodation was roomy in the cottage and great for a family.|All round we had a terrific stay. Thanks. Chris!

The peaceful location, luxurious amenities and outstanding service provided by our host Chris was the highlight of our holiday. We stayed for 3 nights in The Cottage , which is ideal for two couples. The large rooms and tasteful decor include a huge spa bath and extra large beds. The personal service provided included a large welcoming devonshire tea with delicious scones with jam and cream, delivered to the cottage. Also, our generous and tasty evening meals were also brought to us on a lovely, private candle lit table setting. The included cooked breakfasts tasted great and were very filling. Chris is a great chef and a very friendly and thoughtful host. Value for money was the best out of the 14 establishments visited on our holiday.

We celebrated Christmas in July at Chris and Teresa's House. Our group of 12 people stayed for one night. We occupied almost all the rooms, the cottage and the studio. My husband and I had a room in the cottage and it was very spacious, we had the wood heater going and sharing a bathroom with friends was not a problem. The views are amazing! We could set up a Christmas tree in the main house upstairs in the rumpus room. We even danced to some music that one of our friends organised. There was plenty of space for everyone. The next morning Chris cooked us a sumptuous breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grilled tomato and sausage meat, we could also help ourselves to toast and condiments. The plunger coffee was very good too. ||Celestine House is great for a big Group or for individuals, couples or families. ||We highly recommend this place and looking forward coming back for a Girls weekend.

We arrived on Friday and Chris was great. He checked if we wanted the fire lit before we arrived and showed us around before we headed in to our room. He asked what time we wanted breakfast and then told us not to be late because breakfast would be ready for that time, which I found a little odd, as it's difficult to know what time you are going to wake us.|Breakfast was really nice but there's no choice. Chris said it's pancakes on the first day and English breakfast on the second.|We had complimentary afternoon tea on Saturday and the fresh scones, jam and cream were divine.|Dinner we decided to have in the room. They offer a 2 course meal for $38 per person and we had seen such fabulous reviews we were quite excited to try, but were sadly disappointed. |They had a hens night in the main house and seemed to be quite understaffed. Our dinner was not only late getting to us (we were told dinner is served at 7) but also not hot and overcooked. It was such a shame as we knew how good it could be. The scallop potatoes were the saving grace of the main course, amazing! |Dessert arrived promptly an hour later and was delicious!|Breakfast the next morning was good as well, although he did forget that I was vegetarian and had to remake mine.|In terms of the room, I think that it's overpriced. It's quite small with the shower over the spa bath. There were no nice little amenities like shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, etc. These little touches really go a long way of impressing.|Overall I probably wouldn't come back as it just wasn't value for money.

My wife and I stayed two nights in the Phoenix suite, and had dinner both nights. The accommodation was superb - warm ( a cold winter!), comfortable and quite roomy. The food was superb. We'd pre-ordered both meals - the Friday night for the two of us, and the Saturday night for us, our daughter and son-in-law, and two young grandchildren ( almost 5 and almost 3). Chris could not have been more hospitable, and the quality of the food was excellent - I'd particularly recommend the rack of lamb and the local durif. We shall be returning.
