Visited this beautiful little cafe during a recent overnight stay as the family was travelling through. It happened to be the day after Boxing Day and they were so busy! Even so, the customer service was exceptional. The food was delicious and the coffee was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Worth the drive from Lismore, Ballina, or Byron or when you're in the Alstonville area. Recommend the brunch bowl or deluxe breaky burger! Great service, great spot.

For breakfast, a recommendation from Lismore Women’s Health Centre saw me make the trek to the picturesque town of Alstonville from my nearby digs at The Arabella in Wollongbar. Buckley’s Chance is a pretty weatherboard cottage (a former post office built in 1909) on the main drag. The bulk of the tables are arranged on an outside wooden deck. They serve Allpress coffee, which scrubs up nicely in an iced latte ($5.50). Breakfast—a smoked chilli scramble ($23)—was nothing short of spectacular. Two eggs are scrambled in smoked chilli and served over toast with a high quality grilled chorizo sausage and smothered in tomato relish, tangy house-made pickled cucumbers, and a badass chilli sauce. It’s topped off with a springy fresh collection of greens that included leaves I couldn’t even recognise.

It's a good sign when you go to a cafe/restaurant because of the reviews and there's a lot of patrons already there. This was the case today. We were able to find a table on the verandah, nicely warmed by the sun, with an outlook over the neighbouring carpark. Service was attentive and considering the number of patrons, timely. Good food is worth a little wait, and this was the case. Both Diner burgers with added bacon were tasty, with the beef patty still blushing in the middle. The accompanying chips were crispy and well seasoned. The Rueben sandwich came with a very generous serving of in-house smoked pastrami, which was delicious. Sauerkraut was nice, and the sourdough was crunchy, with almost too much butter being used to gain the crunch.
The Allpress coffee was a little underwhelming and even a double shot didn't raise it to the normal Allpress taste.
Prices are on the upper level but the food quality equates with the prices.

Perfect score!

The green salad was brilliant and tops unchartered salad territory.

The atmosphere is great- relaxing and familiar, but still upscale with great music.

Keen to come back and try more.

Edit- I just noticed their chef is Bret Cameron, who came up with some of my favourite plates from Harvest a few years ago. This checks!

Wow! What a great little brunch spot. Super friendly service and the food was fast and, most importantly, very tasty. It’s the garnishes and sauces that turn very good into excellent - in this case it’s the house made hollandaise that has enough lemony acidity to cut through, and pickles on the chilli scrambled eggs to add depth to what can be just a spice bomb.

Thanks!!
