Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes are one of Melbourne’s most Instagrammable spots. With 93 colorful wooden huts, this location attracts thousands of visitors every year, making it a must-see for tourists and content creators alike.

Pros:
✔️ Stunning backdrop for photography
✔️ Rich history dating back to the 1860s
✔️ Easy access from Melbourne’s city center

Things to Keep in Mind:
🚶‍♂️ Expect crowds, especially on weekends
📸 These are privately owned, so no entry inside
🌅 Best time to visit? Golden hour for that perfect shot!

Overall, if you’re looking for a scenic coastal walk with a splash of history and vibrant colors, this place delivers. Just plan your visit strategically to avoid the peak crowds and get the best lighting for your photos!

First time here and we went at sunset to walk the dog as it's dog friendly after around 7.30pm. We were shocked to see so many tourists there. We continued further along the beach where there was hardly anyone so we got some nice photos of the bathing boxes and the sunset. Worth seeing 🙂

Famous place because of the expensive different color bathing boxes. It's said each would cost $100,000... N they are now use to store items instead of living..

Lot of lot of tourists..

Brighton Bathing Boxes is truly a must-visit spot when in Melbourne! We dropped by during winter while travelling from the city area to Phillip Island, and it was the perfect stop along the way.

Although the place can get quite busy, we were pleasantly surprised by how polite and considerate the other visitors were. Many graciously waited and gave us time to take lovely family photos in front of the iconic, colourful boxes without any rush.

The weather was clear and cool, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We parked about 10 minutes away at a paid lot, which felt much safer than parking indiscriminately along the roadside.

Thank you, Melbourne, for your warm hospitality and respectful tourist culture. The Brighton Bathing Boxes were a wonderful part of our journey — highly recommended for families and photo lovers alike!

Iconic Melbourne beach offering pristine sand with spectacular swimming and bay views to the city. The surrounding area has been completely revamped with a new pavilion and landscaping to mitigate soil erosion. On the day we visited, it was swarming with tourists in for a quick pic and drink from the bougee new cafe. The addition of multiple stairs and hard surfaces means it feels more like a tourist attraction than an actual beach....it's losing the charm that made it a unique beach for spending the whole day at.

A calm and beautiful place to watch sunset. The good thing is, it's free.
The place is amazing with beautiful boxes for nice photo shots. The wind is very strong and cold. Don't forget to bring jackets unless you want to enjoy the raw cold breeze...

Okay these are a historical quirky houses used for female swimmers back in the day. Now they are painted in some very interesting ways and a re fun to take in and the beach is beautiful. I say come see them if you have time or want to add a little to a day at the beach
