It’s great seeing these ships up close, and even though this is a replica it still looks and feels like an ocean going wooden ship.
Amazing that people could spend so long on one of these vessels.
There’s an easy access ramp up to the top deck (free) and then ladders down to the lower decks (costs. $5)

A great free attraction (unless you want to explore the lower decks), and in such a wonderful setting too. We paid the nominal $5 (cash only) to explore the below deck area and were happy to contribute to the upkeep of the ship. Definitely worth stopping off, and generally a great place to stop off in Albany.

This is a full scale replica of the historic Amity that is situated along Princess Royal Drive just west of the ANZAC Peace Park in Albany.

The Amity was a 148-ton brig built in 1816 that made several expedition voyages and was used for supply trips along the Australian coast in the early 19th-century. It famously made land here in Albany along with Major Lockyer and his crew in 1826 establishing the first European colony in the King George Sound area. The Amity's service ended when it wrecked in 1845.

The replica you can see today was constructed in 1975 to commemorate the 150 year anniversary of Amity's arrival and establishment of Albany. You can view from fairly close and enter to see a lower deck museum between 9.30am to 4pm daily. Entry fee AUD$5 per adult.

Note: There is also a monument market nearby commemorating Lockyer's 1826 landing and establishment of the first European settlement in Western Australia. It is just east of the Brig Amity replica ship.

A superb replica of the Brig Amity that brought convicts and soldiers to Western Australia. It was well worth paying to tour the hold and the cabins.

Free to walk on and inspect the top deck & $5 cash of EFT to go down below payable to the attendant who is on the top deck. We paid the small fee (equiv price of a coffee really) and enjoyed exploring the below deck area. Having no maritime experience I found it interesting in the construction of the brig (type of vessel it is) and the small area allocated to the sailors quarters. Worth a visit when in vicinity.
