Just dined at Briars tonight while staying at the resort.

I was about to take a star off because they don't let you take away the dessert. We're very happy with the dinner, but also satisfied, and we wanted to try the dessert, so we would like to take the dessert back with us and they informed this is not allowed. 😓

That's a shame.

Everything else was great.
The Rib Eye was to my liking and a medium rare is medium rare. The Specials that day included a Beef Cheek with Mash that was delightful, and we shared a Creamy Garlic Prawns starter but as side dish. They should gang both the Rib Eye with the Prawns and make a Creamy Surf'N'Turf.

Definitely a great option when down the coast and right next to the road, any direction you'd be heading to.

Since the hotel changed ownership, the food and service quality of the restaurant has gone up considerably!

Well prepared mushroom arancini with porcini cream and a seafood pasta?! Good luck trying to beat that!

Look forward to coming back and trying more on the menu. It is almost the reason for a little interstate getaway 😉

A really lovely dinner spot if you’re at the Bay and would like something a little more sophisticated. The menu was interesting and had lots of great options (we enjoyed the pork schnitzel and the ricotta gnocchi, then a creme brûlée to finish). There was quite a large group the night we visited, but the staff made sure not to forget about us!

Understaffed! Barman was also the waiter and he did a great job but of course it was slow. Food was mediocre, stringy $55 steak and way too much butter puddled in pasta dish.

I ordered a medium surf and turf steak one side was cooked the other raw it was very fatty and tough Service was terrible we had booked a table for five and were told to find a table Very disappointing we are locals and will not be going back

Closest to fine dining you can find near Bateman’s Bay. The food was very good and the prices are reasonable compared to same quality of food in Canberra.

The place was nice and quiet, great for a conversation.

The only issue was my steak. I asked for medium-rare, but it came out medium-well.

Great service, the floor staff do everything to ensure your comfort. The seafood pasta was DIVINE! If it wasn’t uncouth I’d have licked the bowl - great job to the chef.
