I cannot rate this place any higher than 5 star, if I could I would. The staff are amazing. Theres a mature lady who went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable with an old mate who was on a walking frame… amazing. All the other staff were friendly and smiling. The Guinness is great and the food is excellent and great value. Thank you for a great Saturday afternoon 3/5/25. We will be back

Nice staff and service, but the schnitzel seemed very much store bought and not much flavour. Was priced at a point where you would expect would be hand made with some herbs in the coating

This pub reminded me of myself- older on the outside, but vibrant and caring on the inside. Visited for a drink after seeing a play at the arts centre. Pub was very clean, bar staff were helpful. Had music in the background which wasn’t loud to impede conversation. Did enjoy seeing the photos of the shire from yesteryear on the walls. Specials for lunch looked like great value.

Ordered chicken schnitzel it tasted off, it's definitely nowhere near fresh. Then as I'm sitting there contemplating how I just wasted my money the guy behind was offered a refund for his steak he said was all gristle. Give this place a pass, Go to the SUS club other side of tracks at least mike's is edible. I won't eat here again.

A great pour of Guinness and a varied albeit overpriced food menu that can be well-priced on certain deal days. A pub menu that changes might be a surprise to a regular, however.

My wife and I have previously enjoyed a good steak here. Today due to circumstances beyond our control we ended up once more in this old fashioned pub and decided to repeat the experience. I ordered a couple of glasses of wine and two "medium" steaks. The steaks arrived and were not only overcooked but dried out. We were battling through them regardless, not wanting to make a fuss. However the barman passed and I mentioned that the steak was a disappointment. He offered to replace them and initially we declined. He agreed that they were overcooked and that he would happily replace them. My wife accepted his offer.
Five minutes later the chef arrived at out table (a not so jolly Indian fellow), and insisted that the steaks were "medium" as ordered. At first I found this quite extraordinary and jokingly stated that they were overcooked and dry and that the customer is always right. My good intended humour was rejected and I and my wife was verbally and nastily abused.This was unjustified, embarrassing and quite shocking. The manager eventually arrived (a lovely lady named Sandy) and apologised. We accepted her apology. My wife agreed that the experience was quite extraordinary and worth the $30 payment. New steaks arrived and I thanked Sandy very politely and asked her to return the new meals untouched. I honestly didn't trust that nasty chef. We shall not be returning.
