Meryl from BooBook took us on an unforgettable full-day tour through the Queensland outback. Definitely one of the best tours we have ever done anywhere in the world. Meryl’s tour of Walleroo Station was amazing, she was so passionate, informed, and enthusiastic for the area that it was infectious. Meryl was able to share stories about the history of the area, both indigenous, colonial and contemporary, all while remaining low key and funny. Add in the amazing things we saw, from ancient art to modern farming, it was a tour we remember forever, oh and the food was awesome!

I will have wonderful memories of time spent exploring Wallaroo surrounds and Carnarvon Gorge with Merryl and her team. Merryl’s knowledge of local fauna and flora, Paan’s delicious food and Bec’s knowledge and assistance on the Carnarvon trek made a very enjoyable experience. Last minute decision to spend my last day in Roma doing full day trip to Carnarvon range with Boobook. A good one! A very informative, relaxing and friendly small group tour. Wonderful highlights of this landscape. A day well spent and well worth the money!

A beautiful day of discovering Canarvon ranges overlooking Arcadia Valley.

I went on the "Discover Carnarvon Ranges Day Tour" on the 26th April.

What a totally awesome experience! Meryl was an excellent host and tour guide. The food that was provided was next level, the scones were bigger than saucers! The scenery was beautiful, awe-inspiring and something that I will never forget.

Meryl’s knowledge was as immense and as plentiful as both the food and the beauty of the scenery. I thoroughly recommend this tour. I took so many photos and learnt so much! If Meryl could not come up with an answer to my, or anyone else on the tour’s, question should would send off a text, or to quote Meryl - “Phone a friend” and the question was soon answered.

Make sure you take your camera as there are so many things on and around Wallaroo Station to point it at. From natural formations, an indigenous axe “factory”, evidence of indigenous life to early colonial farm artefacts.
We even got to see fresh Koala tracks, thanks to a heads up from Wallaroo Outback Retreat staff.
The 20(?) seater bus was clean and well presented. Being a beast of a 4wd, there were no issues with the tracks we were on and the climate control was perfect.
The cows were friendly and stress free, not only for great meat, but for when I offered to do all the opening and closing of gates. (This is not an obligation but something I offered to do as it reminded me of my early childhood spent on farms)
