A great hike to the summit. Lots of steps and only gos upwards.
We took 5hours there and back for the 6 or so kms ,but then we are both 64 .
It says allow 3 to 4 hours but it very steep and strenuous.
The views are amazing

A really great hike. Hard going with sooo many steps but take your time and have plenty of rest stops. Totally worth it though with the best 360 degree views around. Lots of interesting flora, fauna, mineralogy and rock formations along the way too. A very enjoyable hike. I reccommend going in the morning and beating the heat. We did it from 18 - 25 degrees C (perfect).

This is a challenging (Class 4) trail within the Stirling Range National Park. It is the most popular hike within the NP, starting from the carpark lookout off of Bluff Knoll Road and ascending 600 metres up the mountain until reaching the Bluff Knoll summit. The roughly 6.5 km, out-and-back trail can take between 3-4 hours depending on your walking condition and how many picture stops you make.

Note: The Bluff Knoll trail is notorious for weather changes and having low clouds around the summit, something we experienced during our early morning hike last month. The weather was fine and sunny at lower elevation but nearing the summit we entered an deep low clouds, dealt with rain and very windy conditions as well. Temperature and wind chill dropped significantly. We found the summit engulfed in clouds and very cold while the lower elevation section of the trail had fine weather and the carpark actually warm.

Highly advisable to watch the weather before attempting Bluff Knoll. Take sturdy shoes and dress in layers or at least have a rain jacket/wind breaker with you if conditions are too cold near the end of the trail. Additionally, the trail is exposed throughout so have hat, sunscreen and plenty of water on hot and sunny days as well.

Beyond preparedness measures, this is a lovely trail and hike through unique flora and landscape and with endless incredible views of the Stirling Range National Park mountains, surrounding area and even Porongurop National Park peaks in the distance.

We really enjoyed the Bluff Knoll Trail. It is just challenging enough to give you a great morning exercise and workout while enjoying stunning views. Greatly look forward to doing this hike again in during future visits to the area and exploring more of what Stirling Range NP has to offer.

Wonderful hike! Come here and enjoy the beauty of nature. Pure peace and quiet. It is a fairly easy hike, especially up. A lot of kids did the hike as well! Watch your knees on the way back down!

Great trail that ends in fantastic views. Well maintained trek with well built stairs where needed and it winds through some incredible biodiversity which for me is what made the hike slow. A real treat to be here in spring when things are blooming and there is still the threat of cold storm dusting the ridge with snow.

Really beautiful hike, I think people make it sound more dramatic than it is. I did it in barefoot shoes and didn't bother bringing water. The full thing took maybe 1 hour and 45 minutes with moderate fitness level. I would recommend still being prepared but don't be discouraged from doing it based on people saying it's challenging. plenty of senior citizens were on the trail looking very happy to be there. Keep in mind you can always take breaks or even turn back if it's really too much

Bluff knoll is a pretty awesome summit. Being up there for sunrise is magical. You can watch the fog roll back around the hills and reveal the beauty of the hills below. Definitely recommend starting the climb early. You want to get a nice spot to see the sunrise before the young tick tickers and insta fame girls get up there. First 1/3 of the climb feels a lot harder due to the higher steps. But it gets better

Preparation is a must for this hike. Lots of steep areas and varying weather conditions. Make sure you have enough daylight hours to and from as it is a hours long hike. Enough water (about 2-3 L per person, bring a backpack!) is a must as are good shoes. Breaks are essential as the climb is very steep, enjoy the peacefulness and scenery on the way! Only downside I experienced was a group of particular extremely noisy tourists, talking loudly and listening to music not even enjoying the tranquility of the place. Also there is cashless parking in the carpark. Overall the hill experience is spectacular and breathtaking.
