Pat at Bluey Travel worked with us on our customized Covid-replacement trip. We were excited to finally be able to take this bucket-list trip, and Bluey did not disappoint! From the rental vehicle required in the Northwest Territory and the Kimberley, to accommodations throughout our travels, we could not have been more pleased. The Travel Pack provided was a fantastic help in planning our day-to-day travels. In addition to our 23-day itinerary, it included maps, suggestions for excursions, guidance regarding availability of petro and food, and so many other details that made our trip safe and fun.

Last June, we and our good friends embarked on an unforgettable journey through the Northern Territory, with Bluey Travel expertly organizing every detail. Traveling as a group of four, we explored the stunning landscapes of Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine, and Litchfield Park before returning to Darwin to complete our adventure. Throughout the entire process, Pat from Bluey Travel was incredibly accommodating, providing prompt and helpful answers both before and during our trip.
Darwin: A Tropical Welcome Our trip began in Darwin, where we were greeted by the city’s vibrant energy and rich cultural heritage. Bluey Travel’s arrangements were spot-on, with comfortable accommodations and a well-paced itinerary that allowed us to explore the city's highlights, from the bustling waterfront to the poignant WWII sites.
Kakadu National Park: A Living Cultural Landscape It was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The vast landscapes, teeming with wildlife, and the ancient Aboriginal rock art sites left us speechless. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable, bringing the park’s history and cultural significance to life. The boat cruise on Yellow Water Billabong was a standout, with close encounters with crocodiles and a mesmerizing sunrise over the wetlands.
Katherine and Nitmiluk Gorge: A Scenic Delight Next, we travelled to Katherine, where Nitmiluk Gorge offered us a serene and picturesque experience. The boat cruise through the gorge was a highlight, with towering cliffs and clear waters creating a peaceful atmosphere. We also enjoyed a refreshing swim at Edith Falls, surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. The day was well-paced, allowing us to fully appreciate the scenery and tranquillity.
Litchfield National Park: A Hidden Gem Litchfield National Park was our next destination, and it quickly became a favourite. The park’s magnetic termite mounds, cascading waterfalls, and lush landscapes provided a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. We spent the day exploring the park’s natural wonders and cooling off in the crystal-clear waters of Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole. It was a day of pure enjoyment, surrounded by nature’s beauty.
Returning to Darwin: A Perfect Conclusion After our adventures in the national parks, we returned to Darwin to wrap up our trip. The city felt familiar and welcoming, and we appreciated the opportunity to revisit some of our favourite spots and relax before heading home. Bluey Travel ensured that our return to Darwin was as smooth and enjoyable as the rest of the journey.

Our Bluey Travel 15 day Ultimate Kimberley Package was a wonderful experience. The accommodation and car hire were very suitable and the spacing of the stop-overs was ideal. Pat shuffled our itinerary to fit our special requests without any fuss and the travel pack was very informative and detailed. We referred to it all the time and it made our plans for walks, swims and sight-seeing easy. We would certainly recommend Bluey Travel to anyone thinking about a Kimberley holiday.

What is so good about Bluey is that for a self drive holiday they provide an amazing 'bible' so that pretty well any question one might have is handled. Maps, suggestions, timings, distances, what to do, where to hike - everything. If there is any criticism it is that as a result any 'adventure' is stripped away! Absolutely nothing went wrong for us. Boring? No - the Kimberley & Top End are magical.

Bluey organised a 5-week trip across the Top End from Darwin, through several wonderful national parks and Gibb River Road, then down the West Coast to Perth. Fantastic itinerary, some terrific places to stay. We were given comprehensive notes for each day’s travel and really appreciated the detail. Do it! You’ll love it!
